Hi folks, I'm thinking about getting an Airbrake for my MAZ 18. But lacking any first hand experience using an attenuator, I'm kinda curious as to how hot they get? I've seen other brand attenuators with large heatsinks, some with cooling vents. If I decide to use it on an amp with higher output wattage, 60 watts for example, how much difference in dissipated heat comes off that metal box at say position#4 or bedroom level, with the master volume dimed? Barely warm or egg fry hot?
Thanks!

I just got mine today (UPS came early this afternoon). I played with my Maz 18 for a couple of hours... most of it with the amp dime'd or at least 3/4 on both volumes... and the brake on 4. Put my hand on it it several times and it was never hot. Obviously I am not an expert... but that is a sample of one fwiw.

I've always been surprised at how cool that box stays, even with a fairly powerful amp. I've run my RXES dimed all night on one of my Airbrakes and yeah, it was warm, but nothing like you'd think. Definitely NOT egg fry territory, that's for sure.

I played it with the SRZ-65 once for about an hour and it was warm, definitely not "hot".

I run one with a Delta 88. Just played a gig the other night with it and ran the amp "louder" than I ever have. Had the amp at 3 o'clock and the brake on 4. Tone was hot, but the brake was not.
