i just saw an Ebay listing for a Maz Sr with a half power switch. The shop that had it says it's a reversible sort of thing they ran through the standby. Can it be done on any 4 x el84 amp and will it affect tone. A half power on my Rx with the same killer tone would be the bomb.

That was not done in house, it was mod by a repair guy. I never was too wild about 1/2 power switches till I designed one for the 4 6V6 Remedy amp.
Unique biasing and 1/2 power distribution works like none other I have heard.
BTW I couldn't get it work as well with the Stang-Ray, or any EL-84 amp of mine I tried .

I guess I'm one of the few lucky guys to play the "Remedy" with the half power switch. I played it when my wife and I stopped by Doc's shop a couple of months ago. It is "all that". Even my wife loved it- she said "It sounds exactly the same!" (as is does on full power). Amy's got a pretty good ear after listening to me ramble on about amps while I work on them and play them for the 18 years we've been together.
It is a pretty spectacular amp.

I bet the top end is pretty sweet on that little darling. Too bad the 1/2 power idea doesn't work out on the el-84 amps. I guess that's what the guitar vol is for, just being lazy

Remedy?
Man, that is just perfect. I have been on this Black Crowes kick for months, and with the word play on "the good doctor's" products, it's just perfect.
There's too many amps to try, almost. Waiting for the "Remedy."
