Hi I was a user here a few years ago but had to register again as I have not been on for a while. I have a 1997 Carmen ghia and I use it in the UK with a step down transformer. There is quite a loud hum when It first powers up and then it dies down to a just about acceptable hum. I thought this might be something to do with the 60 to 50 cycle difference but I am not sure. The amp is still sounding great but I am worried the hum might get worse. Any help much appreciated. Gib

Had a recent hum before swapping out new spare GT #6's but it was constant. I'd suspect the cycle thing perhaps but I'm totally speaking out of ignorance

Its not tubes as I have changed them all. The only problem I have had in the past was when I bought the amp second hand the conjunctive filter had to be replaced and wonder if that might be a cause. I will disconnect it and see. Do you think it makes a big difference to the sound

Don't do it ... is my advice and personal feeling.

The Doc says it is a tube problem. New set on their way.

The Doc says it is a tube problem. New set on their way. Would make sense. Keep in mind for the future, even a new set of tubes can be bad or way out of spec giving problems like hum.
