My new EZG-50 is less than a week away and I am already venturing to get a dual amp setup going. What Z line up amp would round out the EZG-50?
What goes well with a blackface amp anyways in general?
I was thinking either a Stangray or Route 66.

I'm no expert, but I have seen a lot of guys stereo-riggin' with a 6L6 of sorts, along with an EL-84 of sorts.
Seen a Bassman/AC-30 combo before..........and you also have Mr. Paisley with his Victoria/Vibrolux and Stangray setups, for example.
If I could have the rig of my dreams.....it'd be what you mentioned: EVG50/4X10, with a Stangray/2x12 (Blues)

I think it depends on what you want from your second head. You don't really say, but if you're looking for a really clean Voxy sound, the Stang Ray is your ticket to bliss. But if you're looking for more saturation or gnarly distortion you won't be happy with the 'ray. What do you plan for the second head?

If you're going to be in situations where you can crank it up, the Ghia would be a nice compliment to the cleans of the EZG. You can really get the Ghia working and use it when you want to rock.

Like Steve said, depends on what your looking for. That amp alone is a monster, especially through a 4 10 Z cab.
But for a dual amp setup, I haven't been able to quit thinking about cashandkerouac's EZG/KT45 setup. Talk about fat and round!

I am actually in search of another dimension to my overall tone. Not really looking for versatility or more volume but an amp that either enhances the mid to upper frequencies with a different flavor than the blackface nature of the EZG-50.
My setup wouldn't really be an A/B kind of thing but a setup where both amps are played to make a sort of super child of tone! ;D
I hope I don't regret getting 210 cab convertible because everyone here seems to rave about the 4x10 cab. My plan was to get a second head with another cab (212 or another 210) and make it a super amp with a diverse tonal palette.
Though I havn't heard the EZG-50 I have read that it excels in: Head room Pedal acceptance Reverb A very nice break up
so I would want the second amp to enhance and add uniqueness of it's own. The Stangray seems like a great choice because of the Vox like nature of the amp. Vox amps can do clean very well (maybe not as nice as the blackface fenders) but then it can crunch and grit more easily!

I was thinking A/B when I suggested the Ghia. I have no idea how it would sound played simultaneously with the EZG.

I'd go with a EL-84 amp. if you want clean, go with the Stangray. If you want a dirtier less Voxy tone, go with the Maz. If you want a bit of both, go with my personal favorite, the RXES!

Like Shannon said, the EZG-50 is a monster. It's very loud, especially through a Z-Best or 4x10. It may say "50" but it sounds *huge* thanks to those transformers that look like they came out of a 100W (or bigger) amp.
You didn't say what your goals were and how loudly you're going to play the EZG. If you're looking to do a SRV thang, the KT-45 is a *great* choice to play simultaneously (unless you ask my wife, cause it's *loud* in our house when I do that ;D ). If you're looking for a clean/dirty A/B setup I'd go with something like a Route 66 that has the power to keep up with the EZG.
Or, another great matchup would be the EZG for clean and the 4x6V6 Proto that hopefully is coming next year for lead sounds.

So update to my order, looks like it will come at the end of this month. But I went ahead and upgraded the Cab to the 4x10.
I think I have narrowed it down to either the KT-45 or the Stangray. I don't want to A/B the amps. I want to be able to play both of them at the same time (most of the time).
But the 2nd amp, I want it to be able to do something the EZG-50 cannot (without pedals).
By the end, my goal is to have a very unique sound that will be a wall of tone.

Hi. I've been gigging with the EZG50 coupled with my Route 66 to great success this week. I've been trying out the 2X12" and the 2X10" for both amps. They go great together and both work well with both cabs. I've not tried 2 cabs for 1 amp only though Bet it will be ;D ;D ;D JanLF

Yeah, if your looking to run the second amp full time. As you already know that other sound and how it interacts ithe the EZG will be totaly up to you as you stand there. I guess volume is the only answer we could truely give advise on.

DC here!
I have the 2x10" cab with my Route66 - its a great cab. I run it mostly with the backplate in place.
I has tight lows, and a percussive feel - with an even balanced sound with good projection - with the Route it works great in live situations - I find it easy set it just right in the mix.
Cheers: Dixiechicken!
