Hi guys,
Another "newbie" from the UK. Just got my new blonde Maz18 Jn NR combo from those cool dudes down at Peach guitars. It has not been off since!! What TONE!!! Mmmmmmm!
I play in a covers band using a couple of Strats (2008 Standard and '79 Hardtail - both USA), and a Levinson Blade (lovely Swiss hand made Strat copy, with HB in bridge and two active circuits).
Anyway, my question is this - I have been reading in some of thee posts about somebody putting a foot switch into one of the inputs to increase the gain? At least I think that's what was said if I understood all the American slang ;-)
Can someone tell me, in plain language (as I'm a guitarist, not a techie :-)) what that was all about; how to do it (safely) and anything else I might need to know?
Cheers guys, and thanks for a GREAT forum!!
Peter

When you plug a footswitch into the second input, your guitar is automatically set to the same level as if you had plugged in to the low input on the amp. Pressing the switch then changes the input sensititivity as if you had been plugged into the high input. You might get a pop when you press the switch as this is not a designed feature, just happens to work is all.
If your guitar has a volume kit in it, you can get the exact same effect by plugging your guitar into the high input and turning your guitar down to half volume. Does exactly the same thing, and is how I do it with my Maz Jr.

Congrats on the new amp. And tell English John Peach I said hello.

Hey benttop, thanks for that - nice and clear!! I reckon I have enough foot switches without another one, so I'll stick with the guitar volume. I'l give it a go at home anyway and see what happens. English john Peach - now there's a good stage name :-) I'll say hi next time I'm passing his way. Cheers guys! The amp just gets better and better the more I mess around with it. HAs anyone found a BAD sound on one of these yet? HAHA!
