So on the quest for the pickup of choice I've already made my decisions of which ones for each but the question come to magnet stagger.
With a 52 RI Tele and a G&L ASAT Classic with pretty much the same neck radius do I go with a stock or a hybrid stagger.
I know with the early Tele's that the stock stagger helped even out the output of all 6 strings and the hybrid is definitely better suited for a flatter neck radius.
Is there enough of a difference to warrant a stock stagger?

Just out of curiousity, which pickup company are you dealing with? I never was aware that was an option of choice.

I'm not sure who the OP is working with, but I know that Lindy Fralin offers multiple staggers on some of his pickups.

hollywood88, Check out Lollars. www.lollarguitars.com/Pickups.htm. I would highly recommend you go with the flat poles. IMHO, you get a better string balance than with the staggered. Call Lollar and chat with him; Not to mention his pups are outstanding! Rick

I'm going with Fralin in the bridge. haven't decided on the neck but at this point I really don't use the neck pup hardly ever so its not a priority or even in the thought process and not critical. The ASAT has good stock pups but theres something with that bridge I want more from. As far as the 52 RI is concerned I still am unsure about buying a new Fender and I'm not going to lay too much stock in the pups either so they're toast as soon as it gets here.

i don't think that the staggered configuration versus flat pole configuration matters all that much these days. either is fine. Lollars are always an excellent choice, though i don't have any personal experience with the single coil Lollars. i have a Rio Grande Halfbreed in the neck position in my "52 tele RI and i totally love it.

Well the reason for the stagger would be to give my D string a little more bite or at least in my mind it would

sounds like you've made up your mind to go with the staggered pole pickup. have you made a choice on brand/model? another option would be to get a pickup with adjustable poles. that way you could create the exact type of stagger configuration you want. just a thought.
