I think I blew something on my CG. The amp was on with a faulty speaker connector cable. Now when I power it up it sounds like I'm holding a chord and powering it down, the decay, only there's also a stutter and severe loss of power. I've obviously blown something, haven't powered it up again since. I checked all the tubes were glowing, pilot light came on. No burning smells or anything of that sort, just sounding farty. I feel like an idiot, this is my first tube amp disaster. I have no idea what to do at this point. Did I blow something major? Mody edit: in the speaker cable plug, one of the leads had come loose, it's possible they were shorting, the amp was sounding fine and then went south. Just spoke to a good friend and amp tech, he said it's probably the speaker coil blown, I'll check with another speaker and update here. Man thats a nice TT alnico blown then. Still better than blowing the amp itself. update: Checked with other speakers, they all sound the same, scratchy and the power decays when a note is played.

Hi mody you could also check the conjunctive filter- between pin 7 of the EL84 power tubes inside the amp is a little circuit made up of a white rectangular ceramic 10k 5W resistor connected to an orange disk capacitor- 2200M 6KV I think (my eyesight isn't what it once was). Something may have fried or the solder joints become disconnected Brett
