Just moved the mini Z head to a closed back avatar 1x12 with a V30... was in an open back with a helltone 30. Seems to respond well to a bit stiffer speaker in the closed back - is away better. More control and way usable... just thought I would share that.

Thanks for the update. I always wondered how a Mini/V30 set up would sound. I've been using a green back in an open back cab with mine and it sounds great, but you always wonder if it could be "greater".

I am keeping an eye out for a greenback, a G12H30 and an alnico blue having not played through them over time.

what do you think a mini z would sound like through a 212 z best? Pretty freakin' huge ;D When I bought mine, the store in VA Beach had also had a Ghia head and a matching Z-Best, so I got to crank the Mini though the Z-Best wide open. Hands down the largest sound I've ever heard from 5 watts. I'd imagine that mic'd up it would make for a great crunchy sound out front without having the stage volume too loud (of course, that depends on your idea of too loud.

I just went way overboard again and got a 2x12 Z best and I can tell you it sounds amazing with the Mini Z - BIG! I can hardly wait till my Maz Jr head gets here in three more weeks

Congratulations! One green back makes a heck of a sound, I can only imagine what the Z best must be like. Is there a lot of bottom end with that set up?

Well the cab is still brand new so I will need a few more days with my PA system pumping tunes through it while I am at work before I can give you a detailed description but to answer your question yes there is a ton of bass without being boomy or boxy sounding.

My Mini sounds great through a Weber Silver Bell 1225 ceramic with Pre-Rola treatment.
