I just got a tele with Joe Bardens in it. The neck is uncovered and they are 4 conductor. I had a 4 way switch in the drawer so thought i'd give it a go. Got it all together and its not bad. Question is, with the 4 way on a normal covered T neck pickup, you have to remove the cover ground thats connected to the cold output of the pickup, and run a new ground from the cover.
The bardens not having covers, have the ground wire running beside the cold output from the pickup. Everything is cool and works the way it should, but on the bridge only setting there is output from the neck pickup. Its very faint, but when you tap the pickup with a steel ruler, its just there. Maybe like 5 percent of the bridge. So im wondering if i need to split the ground off from the cold out of the pickup and run it just by itself to ground? Cant find any info on them anywhere. Bardens site says you can wire them 11 different ways, but only has a standard diagram for them.. Anyone know? Will give it a go anyways later. May be unusable anyway as the drive grows considerably, theyre allready kinda hot!

Hey Don, I can't answer off the top of my head. But I have a Tele with a "Nashville" setup. Tele neck and bridge pickups, with a Strat in the middle. I'll try and locate the paperwork that came with my pickups and see if I can find some info for you.

azatplayer, Do you need a copy of the 4 way wiring switch or a diagram for Barden pups? . Here is a link to the 4-way switch www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=tele_4wsHere is is the Barden wiring codes. joebarden.com/Products/Wiring-Diagrams/T-Style.pdfThe barden code is Black is main hot; Red/White are for coil tapping. Otherwise, leave them taped or soldered together Green and Bare both to ground. I don't it will be necessary to split the bridge pup. Just recheck you wiring diagram. I think if you recheck the wiring on the switch you may find the problem. I ran into a similar situation then discovered one pup wast wired incorrectly. I hope this helps. Rick

Thanks Rick. I have followed these diagrams to the tee. Alls good, works like it should, just that tiniest amount of neck level on the bridge setting. Doesnt bother or affect, but i will find why

What a bargain I understand, I have a $500 Mexican Tele with Duncan Hot Rails that is just a killer guitar. It is the one I grab if going into an unknown situation or if I'm in a slump. Plays great, sounds great, can't beat it.

Hello folks,
I know this is an old thread. I'm trying to install some JBE Danny Gatton Tele pickups with a Mojo Tone 4-way solderless. I'm experiencing the same issue of hearing a slight sound from the neck when in the bridge only position. Is the consensus that this is normal? Also Green hot and black ground? My Z-Wreck Jr. is waiting patiently for me to button this up so I can test it.
Thanks Greg
