Please note: this poll assumes you're running one 12" in an open-back cab or in the 1x12 Z28 combo. If your selection is based on experience with a closed-back or multi-speaker cab, please let us know!
There are a bunch of threads here about what 12" speakers people like to run with their Z28. Let's consolidate!
I tried to put the 12" speakers I see mentioned most often. Of course, if your choice isn't here, select "other," and tell us what it is.
Please explain why you prefer the speaker you've voted for, what kind of music you use it for, etc. Since there's never one "best," You can vote fore up to three speakers, but again, please say briefly why you voted for your choices.

Other Please name: The Dr.Z 10" speakers rule. They are loud and sound great no matter what you play through them.
G12H30 just happens to be the only other speakers I run with the Z-28.
I have ran it into a Weber SigA12S, and a 50W ceramic Blue Dog and it wasn't very good, but the both of the Webers sound great with other amps.

G12 Century neo for me. I tried a bunch of speakers with the Z-28, but that's the one that gave me the most power and clarity (and super-light weight!). Wish I'd kept my 1x12 cab longer so I could try a Tonker in it, but I was moving on to 10's anyway.

Usually I prefer my Z 210 cab with the ' 28 ... however, I have been pretty happy on occasion when using Z 112 cab with the V30 cheers always, eh Joel

Presently using an emi RWB, very satisfied with tone... also used a G12H-30 with very good results. If in a small room where volume is a concern the Greenback is a good choice, its the speaker doc chose for it.

G12 Century neo for me. I tried a bunch of speakers with the Z-28, but that's the one that gave me the most power and clarity (and super-light weight!). Is it still "warm" and musical? Most people think a speaker has to be heavy to have tone! I guess times are changing – a lot of good reviews here for that speaker. Have you tried a Classic Lead 80?

Can you make the poll results visible without voting ? I'm in the process of seaching (not happy with current choice of Hellatone 30) and don't want to vote just to see the results.

I very much like the Greenback with the Z-28 I have.
At the moment, I'm not liking the Z-28 with the Celestion Gold. It could be because I haven't been able to play it at the volume I'd like, so the jury is still out.

Ben, the only Lead series I've tried didn't work for me. Seems like they were stiff, brittle and required higher wattage to work them like they wanted to be. That was several years ago, and my only experience with them. The Century neo came in my Z-28 combo as a special order for Willcutt's. I was very skeptical when I saw it, but it made a real believer out of me. I later split the combo into a head/cab rig, and kept that speaker for the Z 1x12 cab. I'd still have it if 10's hadn't moved me in that direction. It's loud (102db), handles a lot of power @ 80 watts or so and is light as a feather. Warmth is subjective, but I like a punchy speaker that I can swat power chords without it turning too mush and it did that very well across the board. I still have one in my Ampeg Jet II reissue. Turned that little 15 watter into a fire-breathing monster.

Sorry Big! I tried to change the poll but I can't once it's started I didn't mean to set it up that way... If I could ask, what don't you like about the Hellatone 30/G12H30?

I have a Weber C1125 in a custom open backed cab that sounds huge for such a little thing. Also have a Tonemaster 2X12 with V30's that sounds more agressive in a good way. Both are great to my ears.

Ok, Greenback and G12H30 are winning by a huge margin.
Now, how quickly does the low-end on a Greenback fold? I know that the Z28's watts don't exceed what the Greenback can handle, but let's say I run a Keeley-modded Metal Zone into this thing, and it's spanking the amp with huge low end... I know the Z28 can handle it. Can the Greenback?
I'm looking for tightness on the bottom.

I prefer American voiced speakers with the Z-28. In order of preference: 25 watt Weber 12F150B 25 watt Weber 12A150, 150B, or 150W (slightly different flavors of the same basic speaker) 50 watt Weber ceramic Blue Dog

I prefer American voiced speakers with the Z-28 This one always confuses me. I mean, Tweed, Blackface, Mesa/Boogie are all "American" but very very different. What do you mean by American? Slightly scooped?

While I don't own a Greenback, but I would be worried about the amount of bass your gonna be pushing.
I wouldn't give up one your tens yet. Maybe adding that 1x12 to the tens. Done this a couple times and it's big sounding.

Dave, great suggestion. I like the idea of mixing speaker sizes. That way you get the benefits of both sizes.
Hmmm...

Anyone tried a V30/ Greenback pair? I've got a Z28 coming and I wonder how it'll sound with my 212 Greenback / Veteran 30 (WGS V30 clone)? I've also got a Red Fang 112 which sounds great with the Ghia! Brett

Seems to be on the dark side for me. I'm looking for more "Fender" sound than anything and I get that if I plug it into a 10" Ragin' Cajun. I may be getting a combo cab made for the Z28 with a 10" speaker.

I just bought a Z-28 from zzzzzzz- lovely amp, but fussier with speakers than my Ghia. The Ghia likes both my 112 Red Fang and 212 Greenback/v30 clone pair. The Z-28 is great with the 212- sweet, sugary and full. It doesn't like the Red Fang- sounds flat in comparison. Brett

I've been using a Weber Silver Bell in a spruce cab (homemade) or a pair includiing a silver bell and blue dog in a homemade 2x12 where the bell is open and the blue is closed. I almost always grab the 1X12 but I think it's because the 2x12 needs more break in time. I guess I should try a greenback someday. Are they more popular because they are more easily available??? Anyone else have a closed/open combo??? I though it was worth a try.

I have used the stock speaker and a couple of other celestions but not a greenback. I currently have a RedFang and love it. I am thinking that alot of speakers sound good with this amp....but for me its the fang... I am actually considering the Fang in my MAZ38 as it has the capability to handle the power. I have used Celestion Blues and like the Fang better... It is however a personal choice because when I listen to clips of other setups they sound great too.... I guess with an amp this good everything sounds good, some better than others and a few great ones...

Greenback for its inefficiency when volume is a concern. But, hands down, Scumback H75 for tone. Amazing with the z28 in a 1x12. Highest recommendation.

I can't believe how well the Greenback's doing... it's not even close. I think it's gonna be Greenies for me.
afterbang, do you know if the H75 is based on another speaker? Some Celestion perhaps?

After putting my Red Fang with the Greenback in my 212 it sounds fantastic- I think maybe my 112 isn't open backed enough for the Red Fang but it sounds great with a single Greenie or the WGS Veteran 30.
