Hello all. Got my RX Jr on site today! First hour was a lot of fun. Currently just playing with the tone right now. Master is at 3, treb at 5, mid at 6, bass at 6. I did like the "chime" that I was sort of getting with the tele and the strat. Definitely louder than my Maz Jr to me. I love the voxy type tones I am getting with this, however, what blew, and I mean BLEW me away was the OD switch. Man, this was like having another top notch pedal! I was having fun playing with my strat and getting just enough hair on the tone, and then BANG! That was fun for good ol' classic rock chords. I am not really a solo/lead guy.....yet, as I mostly play rhythm, but man is this thing cool!! Cleaner than my Maz Jr 2x10 combo. ;D What I did notice is that my Zendrive was great, flying dragon great, but the OCD (v1) was not really doing it for me. Seemed thin and just plain noisy. The analogman chorus was great, as expected. Get my Kopy Kat late this week and that should be good too. Waiting on a compressor (didnt like the Tone Press) which will most likely be the Homebrew CPR and undecided on the Mr. Springgy, Von Amps Sole Mate or the Dr. Scientist Reverberator. I am glad that I got this amp, and am not thinking i will miss my Maz Jr. PS I have the 1x12 combo with a Blue in it. Put it up against a stangray with twin greenbacks (or at least that's what the dealer said was in the cab it was hooked up to (a z). Ray was definitely punchy and raw. This was smoother and the chime was pretty apparent. I do now have the GAS for the EZG though!!! That was some cool cleans......

i will say this, just had another dose for about an hour. adjusted the knobs around, and its liking things more!!
I have been playing for about 4 years, and know that this amp is above me....but I know that I will never outgrow it, and it will in fact make me better. I've already seen that just playing clean and using the Overdose adds a whole new dimension to me.
I play out maybe 1 time each quarter, and at church 4 times a month acoustically. Not a pro, but a suit and tie that likes to break loose. This is really what I have been looking for the home use, and to get loud when I need too. I liked the Ray, but it was too much power for what I needed.
I thought about just using my Maz Jr proceeds and put in a Blue in my AC15, but everything just sounds more sterile to me that way.
I know my ears arent as refined as many, but I do know and appreciate great tone. This has it. I can easily see playing clean modern country and some Cash, some dirty 60's and 70's stuff. Plenty of indie type tones are in here and are easy to get. I can also see putting some reverb on, and getting some surf tones and some CHris Isaak. Add a few pedals and I will be rockin the good classic rock stuff...ala petty, zz top, etc.
I tend to like the ACish tones, smooth chime. and with the Blue in this, i think I am there.
Now I just need to get better, and this is going to get me revved up to do that!!!!
Cheers!!!!!!
One happy not-to-novicey novice here in Minny!!!!!!

I'm with ya on the RxJr. mangoman. The more I play mine the more I like it. It actually does inspire me to play more and try new things.
The RxJr covers the bases nicely for what I do. Great cleans and thick drive.
Zane, I think you're going to like the RxJr. I hope it gets there soon!

It's just a great amp. There's no better way to put it. The cleans, the slight overdrive and then the way it takes pedals. I couldn't ask for anything more.
I'm still playing mine through a 112 convertible Z w/G12H. I would like to get a blue or a gold. I hear the blue is powered to low. Is this true? The thing about the Gold is it's louder and I just don't need more volume.
Is the Gold worth is Bluzman?

I've been using mine with a single Greenback for a few weeks now - it's going to stay in that cab for awhile. Doc knows what he is talking about when he suggests a Greenback with the Rx Jr... ;D

Is the Gold worth is Bluzman? I think the Gold is worth it. I need an efficient speaker with it but it does sound nice with the Weber Blue and Silver AlNiCos too, but not as loud. It sounds really nice with the C-Blues, but I only have those in a 2x12 and a 1x12 is plenty for me in most situations. I also like the GB 12 and 2x10 ceramics with it too. A stock Z-Best gives it a huge sound with MONSTER bottom. It sounded great with an EVM12L too! A great all around amp with a variety of speakers. I use the Gold with other amps too. Benttop had posts raving about the Gold in general and he was right on! If you need to use it wide open, use a more efficient speaker.

I tried my RXJr with the 2x12 Alnico Blues last night - oh my, that sounded really good. That's more cab than I plan to haul around for that amp, but for the studio I'll go to that cab every time I think.

Yeah, 212's are to much for me in my playing situation and I just don't want to haul that much weight around. Will the Rx Jr blow one Celestion Blue?

Guys have them in their Maz Jr's at 18 watts, so I expect they would hold together fine for the 15 watt RX Jr., although the RXJr has a lot more bottom end available. I still think it's safe.

Hmmm. I may have to give that a try. The Blue isn't as loud as the Gold and if the Jr won't blow it I may give it a go. Since Mangoman has a 112 combo Rx Jr with a Blue in it must be safe...if that's the way the Doc built it.

If I had my RXJr as a combo I most definitely would want a Blue in there. They sound GREAT with the RXJr.

Will the Rx Jr blow one Celestion Blue? It better not--that's what's in my 1x12 convertible. Seriously, I have played it wide open on the volume and master without any problems (thus far).

Guys!!
This thing is really awesome!! I was playing last night with a buddy and we had the master and the volume dimed. Only timed it seemed a bit over the top was when, with the OD engaged, I kicked in the OCD to see what would happen.....a little too much noise, but the Blue seemed OK with it. Just didnt seem articulate. However, we did just have to kick in the flying dragon for giggles. LOUD.
I have some guys that still just dont believe its 15 watts!!!!!
