There were a couple of protos there that were pretty cool. The first was a Stingray/Mazerati GT combination. I've been calling it the StangRati GT myself, but Doc is soliciting ideas in that regard. Cool amp - Stingray on one side, hit the footswitch and you're in Mazerati GT land. He also had a proto there of an amp that worked like a Marshall preamp where you have both channels jumpered together and you can run one volume that is bright and one volume that is warm. That amp has four 6V6 power tubes, so it's going to be one of the higher wattage amps (not a Jr). Curt played that one at Wilberts and it sounded outstanding. The Z-Wreck was there, and I got to play it on Friday. Doc, if you ever make that a production amp, I'll buy one the next instant.

OOPS! I'll fix it. Funny - I can't hardly type two 6's without an L in between...

Does it sound anything like the RX or StangRay or anything else in the Doc's line-up? Well it was a little noisy in there so it wasn't really a place to draw any conclusions. I believe it's a 4xEL84 amp, and it had a really great crunchy tone. But I didn't fiddle with any of the controls - it sounded great where they were set. And I'm not at all certain what speakers it was connected to - there were a dozen cabs there, and near the Wreck there were at least four that it could have been connected to. Not much info, I know, but that's the most I could capture.

If that had 2xEL34 I would buy it in an instant ... that would be the Plexi killer I always wanted!!!
