Ok so im using an RXes through a Zbest 2x12 with one vintage 30 and one greenback. Here are the amp settings im using:
Volume: 8-9 (almost all the way up) Treb: 8:30 - 9:00 (o'clock settings) mid: 11:00 Bass: 3:00 Overdose: On
Im using this with an airbrake obviously. The problem Im running into is that i have to have my airbrake on the bedroom level because even on the 3rd or 4th click it is way too loud. Could running it through the bedroom level make it so muddy sounding?
When i use the airbrake the sound difference between clicks is barely noticable? is this normal?
Im using a stock 1952 RI telecaster. The leads sound awesome, but when i go to play chords they just are muddy and have no definition?
Could this be an issue with my amp settings? airbrake? speakers in the cab?
Thanks for any help and input Edwin

Many people i've talked to describe the exact same thing when using the Airbrake on the bedroom settings. I'm thinking that's the culprit (the bedroom setting, not the Airbrake itself).
I've now heard quite a few RX amps and none of them were even close to being muddy sounding.

are you talkin 8-9, like a marshall setting not an o'clock setting?
most amps can get muddy at a setting that high in my experience.
speakers tend to need a certain amount of power to reach their full potential, so that could be it too.
also, the airbrake is a useful tool but i've found the bedroom setting to not be as good at letting "tone" through.
i will say that similiar products have the same quality.
you cant change an equation and expect the same results.
still an amazing product though.

try running your tone settings 12 oclock to rebaseline. my bass and treble on my original Rx are about the eact reverse of your ES settings. Try it without the overdose. kicking in the enhance switch on my Rx removes a lot of clarity and cranked that loud the power tubes will carry the weight nicely.
i found the bedroom setting on the airbrake to do some detrimental things to the openness of the tone but overall it still sounds great. when the amp is wfo
try rolling back your guitar volume a tic when you come off solos and i be you'll find a bunch of definition lurking in that tele. i'd put a cold buch lite on the line that rolling back the guitar volume will get you a long way to where you want to be.

I found the exact same problems that you have. I found the airbreak not useful at all and returned it. Clicking from 1 to 4 was pretty much no difference in volume. Clicking to bedroom level trashed the tone.

the airbrake can be internally adjusted to create a higher difference in volume from 1-4.
you can adjust this to make it where you can crank the RXES less and set the airbrake higher instead of using the bedroom setting.
