I have a 112 combo with a GB made in china (Celestion 25W version) and I love it, BUT, has anyone tried/compared other GB variations with the Z28 like the Heritage G12M (Celestion 20W version) or the Weber 1225?
I was thinking of trying a Weber 1225 ceramic, possibly with the pre-rola treatment.

The greenback and 28 are a match made in heaven. I've used a Warehouse green beret with great results, it's actually a little stouter than the greenie...doesn't 'cave in' quite as fast under heavy power. Problem I've found are these summer outdoor gigs makes the green a challenge...killer in the small room club, but get in the big outdoors and I'm not getting enough headroom. Consequently, I've been using an emi RWB, and most recently put in my old G12H-30. I don't think you can get a bad sound from this amp!

The Chinese version I think is better than the final batch of greenbacks from England. They seem smoother, less brittle. The Weber 1225 I think is the best greenback made, get the pre rola doping for an amazing sound.

Scumback M75 or H75 (G12M or G12H respectively) and call it a day.

i know this thread is a little old but.... I've read that the Eminence GB128 is a 50w variation of the green back.
All the reviews for this speaker make it sound amazing but I've never heard one in person. Has anyone tried the GB128 with a Z-28?

While I don't have a Z-28 any more. I would have to think a it would sound great with a Heritage Greenback. I just picked up a EVH cab with four of them in it and it sounds great with my RxJr, my two Swarts, and I plug a Soldano ROS into it yesterday.
I don't think they sound brittle at all, but then again I'm pushing four of them. I tested it againest year old Marshall 4x12 25w greenback cab that is well broken in and I like the sound of the EVH's better. Then I tested it againest a '82 Marshall 4x12 with Greens. Well that cab sounded better to me, but those speakers are some 27 years old verse my EVH's w/15 hours on them, so apples to oranges if you ask me.

A lot of people say they like the Chinese Greenbacks best- I like mine. One thing I do know is that my greenbacks are the only speakers I haven't had to break in- they sounded amazing from the start and only got better- I just need to build a new 212 to house the pair of them as I like more than one at a time!
