Does the Doc sell these for my KT-45 head? If not, where can I buy one?
The head I just received has a little too much sag in it; I want it a heck of a lot tighter. I guess I want the Groove Tube SS rectifier for the tightest sound?
Any help is appreciated.
thanks, Jeff

I have a Weber Copper Cap in one of my amps, and it's pretty good. They are designed to sag, but obviously not like a tube.

+1 for the Webers... and you can also get a Groove Tube Solid State Rectifier. I hear they don't sag.

thanks for the info guys!
I think you still have to bias when going from tube to SS rectifier?

Thank you, sir! Does anyone know which model of GT SS would replace the GZ-34 tube rectifier?

Yes ... that is the one. Buddy Whittington and Michael Burks use these SS rectifiers in many of their Z amps as a side note and Carl Verheyen has one in his USA SRZ-65 but a vacuum tube rectifier in his Europe SRZ-65.

I have a Weber Copper Cap in one of my amps, and it's pretty good. They are designed to sag, but obviously not like a tube. The Weber units are cool and do sag as does a tube rectifer. The GT unit does not sag. It is a matter of personal taste and preference. With the Weber unit you get the feel of a tube rectifier in many ways but the reliability of a solid state device.

thanks for the info guys! I think you still have to bias when going from tube to SS rectifier? If your bias was at a normal range, i.e., 50-65% ID, then the voltage change is not enough to make it necessary to rebias. I have lots of folks amps set up so they can go back and forth ... vacuum tube in the studio and SS on the road.

Thank you Miles! Will that same SS unit be ok for a replacement of the EL34S recto tube in my 6545 head, as well?

Thanks Myles. On the 6545, the tube in the very far right/recto slot is an EL34S.
