Hey all. After selling my prized Mazerati combo (that hurt) I have been watching several gearpage/ebay/craigslist listings on a pre-owned Z28.
I am happy to report that a minty 2002 210 combo is now in my posession. I was able to spend about 45 quality minutes with her at lunch time today. I am very happy to say the least.
I am amazed on how the bass and treble tone controls can make a huge difference with just a little turn!
This amp IMO sits very well between my Maz Jr. and the Prescription Jr. tonally and the 6V6's give a nice warmth (tweedy) to the amp.
I have to say that GAS pains are definetly easing now...Thank GOD!
My Z28 currently has a NOS Mullard ef86, a RAM 5751, Sovtek 5AR4 Rectifier and 2 GT 6V6R tubes.
I am interested in hearing what power tubes/rectifier tubes you all are running?
Any favorite settings you all would like to share?

i changed the rectifier to a NOS mullard, changed out the speaker to a Emi RedFang and have not looked back.. I would swap the rect. tube first off, you might mail NiteHawk on here and see what he has available. Enjoy what I believe is one of Z's best amps.

I Just did the same thing. I traded my mazerati for a 2002 z28 with a z forum member.
I like the z28..... heres the thing: I wanted to use as a a/b between my Perscription ES. The Perscription for rhythm and the Z20 for leads. Nest to the ES the z20 is very compressd and thin. I am thinking I need new Power tubes.

Very cool, Paul! I'm still lovin' my Z28...SO different than the awesome 'Ray, and that's a good thing.

I did the wide open thang last night. Sounded really good. Then I did the all 3's! Sounded awesome. I rolled the guitars volume back and was floored by the dynamics. The cleans were there, yet the throttled rock tone was there with just a little twist of the volume knob and a harder pick attack. I love Z amps!
