If you are talking a real Mullard, NOS, with the Bogen name on it (they did not make tubes thety just put their name on tubes used in some of their products), it would depend on the particular tube if you are comparing gain.
You need to spend a bit of time in the 12AX7 section of my website to understand what gain is, plate current is, and many other factors when it comes to comparing tube types.

If you have it, try it! Why would you care what anyone thinks when you can hear it for yourself? Share your observations.

Speaking of new production tubes the Mullard I tried was very clear and Hi-Fi sounding. I like the Tung-Sol the best as it seems to have a bit more gain and has a juicy harmonic rich tone. I havent tried the JJs, and my tests were in my 5e3 deluxe. I am liking the new Tung Sol so much I find I am not going crazy stocking up on NOS tubes.
Unfortunately, I havent found any good, long lasting power tubes.

I have heard similar things about the new Mullards. Alot of people have said they are a great tube, but for guitar amps the New Tung Sol's are a little more lively. I have not yet had a chance to try the new Mullards, but the Tung Sol's are one of my favorite new 12ax7. I would definitely love to hear other's experiences.

Those GT12ax7M's were awesome. I have some I bought when they came out. At the time, I was doing a tube roll with all kinds of different 12ax7's, and they and an old Telefunken I had were the winners. I wonder if they'll ever bring them back or if they can't get them anymore??
Of course, everyone has a certain thing they're looking for, but I would describe the GT12ax7M's as smooth with lots of gain.
