Anyone using a Zendrive with the Ray? Steve, don't you have one?

I have two here. I've only tried the ZD2 with the Stingray, but it sounded great. The ZD1 is pretty close, so I'd say it will sound great. Hey, I thought you had a Zendrive?

Zen 2 + Ray = GT
Not quite as nice overdrive tone as the GT but similar sound in my opinion. Although I think the GT has more gain on it's own than the Ray does even with the Zen.

I have 3 distortion pedals on my board. First is a Zendrive, then a BB Preamp, and a 1st-year TS-9 Tubescreamer. The Ray has a sort of "scooped mid" sound. So the mid-heavy tone of the Tubescreamer really fits well. But the Zen and BB are very transparent pedals that sound awesome with the Ray. I have my Zen set up for only a moderate amount of gain. The BB has quite a bit more, but still not maxed out. I can get a LOT of versatility by stacking the different gains.
So to answer your question, the Ray sounds fantastic with everything. You'll love it with a Zen.

Yup, just used the Zen and a RC Boost with my Ray at a recent audition. I got a really nice sound with a ton of options with only a small amount of gear/pedals. I've got a Hermida Mosferatu on the way, should have that next week, and I can't wait to try that out with the Ray. I'm hoping it'll have as much gain as a BB, but more open feeling/sounding. We'll see.

I'm already convinced that I need a BB for my amp. The compression of the BB is perfect for the relative non-compressed nature of my Ray at the lower volumes I generally play.
But I want that singing OD like a KoT and that ilk manage to get.
I also refuse to wait months for a PEDAL!

I use a Zendrive with my Stang-Ray. I use it quite often as my base, then add either a Keeley BD-2 and/or the Keeley TS-9 as my sustaining overdrives. I've also been pairing my Stang-Ray up with my Fender Quad Reverb, & my Mesa Mark IV, running all at the same time. It's quite a sound. The Ray adds punch & spank, the Quad adds clean breadth (big, clean sound) and the Mark IV is used to add focused lead work. All this is configured through a TC Electronic G-system. I do find, using this setup, that the Zendrive is on most of the time. MeZa

I have one, along with a BB preamp, and a Lovekraft Mojodrive. covers alot of bases. I believe that the Zendrive is a key ingredient to get Paisley tone if that's what your after. It's also just great for a wide range of other tones. It sings equally well with my Fender Super Reverb. It's definitely worth the scratch.
