anyone got any info/experience on these two pedals and the differences between them? I have a real tube pedal with an NOS RCA 5963 (12au7) in it and love it! I also have a Real Tube rack version (901) I think and love it as well. Well now I see B.K. Butler making the tube driver again etc. and was wondering the differences between them. I know Rev. Billy G. likes the real tube and I have also seen Robin Trower playing one live as well and EJ. and Gilmore like the "driver" models. I sold my dirt pedals to save up for another so I had to pull out my Real Tube and found it to be stellar sounding. I never fell in love with it before but since I am forced to use only it for now I have discovered how to use etc. I also was wondering if doing anything to improve it was available out there. I was thinking if maybe what ever caps are in it if changing them out with SOZO caps would make it better etc.. PS. Mine is not a "BK Butler" scripted logo one but looks identical to it without his name on it and also I have a friend who had a "BK' model and side by side could not here any differences at all except mine sounded smoother cuz of the NOS tube in it. cheycaster

There ALOT of info on these over at TGP if you do a search. I know that when Chandler took over production from BK, the design/circuit DID change. But alot of detailed info on the differences over on TGP.
I've been thru several tube ODs... Vox, Varidrive, Ibanez, never bonded with any of them... but the BK is one I'd still like to check out.

well I say that even tho I really never "really" bonded to them I am surprized at the out come I have found. It has always seemed to me that it is like a nice tube amps channel but never really worked as "screamer" or overdrive. But the tone I'm getting is really sweet and complex. It's easy to make one of these pedals sound horrible just by the wrong knob tweaking but find that sweet spot(s) and wow, it's cool. It definitaly has something that a regular OD and dist. pedal doesnt. thanks for the info..
