I'm a new owner of a Maz 18 2x10 combo. I am very excited to play it out this weekend. ;D I do have a few questions.
1. If I want to hook up a second 8 ohm speaker cabinet up to the amp and leave the 2 internal 10" speakers hooked up, can I do it through the 4 ohm jack or must I unplug the internal speakers from the 8 ohm jack and hook both internal and external 8 ohm speaker loads (in parallel) though the 4 ohm speaker jack?
2. Will I loose any sound by playing my Maz 18 on a amp stand vs the floor? Are there any adjustments to the amp I should make to compensate for using it on the stand?
3. I heard that there have been changes to this amp design over the years? This amp is made in 2006. Can someone tell me the differences in the design before and after 2006, if any? Any noticable change in sound, etc.?
Thanks for your time , and glad to become a member of the Dr Z Forum.

You will need a Y connector for this. Plug the Y cable into the 4 ohm tap on the back of the amp. Plug in the combo speakers (8 ohm ) into one side. Plug in your other cabinet ( 8 ohm ) to the other side. Your amp is now running at 4 ohms. Todd at pcns cables is a member on this forum. He sells a very nice and heavy duty Y connector. You should be able to track him down fairly easy. 2. You will have to use your own ears for this. Just experiment. 3. You have the new circuit. I don't know the difference. I hoped this helped you. Bill

Bill, Thanks for the reply and the link. That will definitely come in handy as I try to dial in my sound tonight on the Maz Jr for the first time. I look forward to all I can learn on the forum. Although, I am worried it will also give me more Dr. Z G.A.S. Ed

cheycaster,
I am not discouraged, but I was surprized I didn't get any reply initially. Sorry if it came across wrong. Thanks heynewguy and cheycaster for responding and getting me started.
By the way I gigged with my Maz Jr this weekend and it sounded great. A little tweaking needed yet, but it sure sounded very good. I was surprized how much sound those 2-10's kicked out. I was running the gain at 12 and the master at 12 and the sound guy said I was too loud. We play classic rock & southern rock. I do run pedals for OD and Dist. My band members said it was not too loud on stage. I went out front with my wireless and I don't think it sounded to loud from the stage, plus we had a mic on the amp.
I'd appreciate others comments about how they gig with their amp.
Cool forum and I can tell it will be very informative and enjoyable.
