Love this amp. It does have some of the quirks that made me trade my Mazerati (original, not GT) in for a Route 66 as my live amp, but it fits perfectly with my Route!
It has nice sparkling cleans at very low volumes prior to any breakup. Lots of bass as well as the top end. Really full sound for a tiny amp. (We are talking quiet though).
When the amp just starts to get some hair on it, around 9-10 o'clock, this is where I have a minor complaint. Chords, especially minor ones, seem a little unpleasant. However, single notes still sound great. (This was where the Mazerati didn't do it for me. It wasn't really clean enough to use pedals and not dirty enough to really rock out. That required really cranking it.)
Turning up to about noon and beyond, we are getting some nice overdrive and chords, even minor, get more pleasant. Single note leads really sing.
Full on, this thing has way more drive than the Mazerati but probably not quite as much as the Mazerati GT (never owned, but played at Boston Guitar Works). Plenty of drive to get into 80's metal/90's grunge.
This is a fantastic recording and bedroom amp because you can get everything at a nice level to use very sensitive microphones and really hear the deep bass and can roll the treble off with your guitar. Probably look into getting a treble boost to get into overdrive with a bit of bass reduced.
I am loving it and the amp and goes perfect with the Route which can be loud enough to handle my pedals, but still give a great clean without my minor complaint listed above.
Great work Doc!
