My new Z just arrived. A Ghia 1 x 12 V30 Combo. Curious where people are setting the Volume and Tone with different guitars. FYI I play a '99 Les Paul R9 with Classic 57s, a CS CP Strat with CS Noiseless, and a PRS Custom 24.

OK, I have a GC head, with the Dr Z 2x10 cab. In my basement, the vol never ( almost) goes past 9:00 o'clock. I keep the tone at around 11 to 1. The rest of the tone gets adjusted thru my guitar or effect.

I'm in on the tone setting...between 11:00 and 1:00.
I like the volume best between noon and 2:00.
This is a head trough a Z 1X12 loaded w/ a V-30, usually a Tele, alt. country and some southern rockish stuff.

I've found I really like the way a Ghia behaves with an EH 12ax7 in V1 and a balanced NOS 12BH7 in V2. From there, I plug in a humbucker guitar, crank the volume full up, and put the tone control right around 12 noon or a little less. This is through a front ported 2x12 somewhat similar in tone/response but not identical to a Z-best (EarCandy BuzzBomb), or a 1x12 with a Vintage 30.
The shades of semi-clean to dirt all available with the guitars volume and tone controls are nothing short of amazing. I also add a Germanium boost pedal like the Hellbilly from there, not for boost, but just for flavor. In otherwords, it's not pushint the amp much if any harder, but adding a little sweet germanium dirt and compression for a more fuzz-like tone. This setup still responds to the guitar controls really well too.
