Hi gang, I am about to purchase a Maz 38 used. Does the presence of the the cut knob also mean that it has the larger power transformer and all other upgrades mentioned on the Maz 38 page, ie. "After an 8 year run etc. etc. " Thanks, Alex

Congratulations on your choice Alex. You can't go wrong with the Maz 38. It's an incredible amp. I had mine special ordered in 2003 and voiced toward a Marshall. It was a great sounding amp. In 2006 I traded for a Route 66 and am just as pleased with it. 'Z' Amps are the best. ;D Welcome to the forum and karma to start ya' out. Doug

Yes. As far as I know, when the MAZ 38 got the phase inverter from the Jr. and the Cut control (thereby making it a "Sr."), the transformer was upgraded as well. This happened around the first quarter of 2002, so the serial number of the amp in question should start with "M" or later ("N,O,P,Q, etc.).
