Last night I was playing my Ghia and noticed that the power light flickered a couple times. I didn't notice any change in volume and I didn't hear any wierd noises or anything like that, but I've never seen this happen before. Would this be something as simple as the bulb starting to wear out, or could this be a fuse problem starting to show? Just curious.

I'd say to check it to make sure it's seated right as they are a bayonet type bulb. I use electrical tape. Take about 2" and fold it in half, but keep the sticky ends from sticking together, then stick the ends on opposite sides of the bulb and use the folded part to twist it while gently pushing in or pulling out. There are bulb pullers/inserters you can get at some electronic supply shops or just use a proper sized piece of flexible tubing as that works great too. If the bulb is burning out you can get replacements at Radio Shack. Sounds like it's loose to me. I could be wrong... again! ;D

Actually most people don't realize it, but Dr. Z is in the CIA and he constructs his amps so that the pilot light is actually transmitting data while you play a gig... Naw, just kidding. You may not have noticed it before, but they all do it from time to time depending on the power coming into your amp. The amp sounds ok because your filter capacitors are smoothing out the power, but your pilot light is connected directly to the power via the transformer, so any instantaneous blips are showing up there. Shouldn't be a problem. I bet if you got one of those power conditioner gizmos it would go away permanently.

Bluzman hit the nail on the head ... usually just reseat the bulb.
Many times on one Fender amp I have it does not even come on at all until you reseat it and I am too lazy to even plug in a new bulb where the end is not squashed from years of being around.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I did check the bulb and I haven't seen it happen since. Looks like that's all it was.

Ha ha Myles - I don't really think anyone around here perceives you as being the lazy kind. That's certainly not what comes to my mind anyway - anyway we all appreciate the laziness you put in on this here board. Cheers: Dixiechicken!
