Hey Y'all , a question. Due to some issues I can only play for 30,40 mins. at a time. then I'll walk away for half an hour or so & come back. so... by the end of the week the amp may have been on for several hrs. not being played. So does this idle time effect tubular longevity? Alot? Would I be better off turning it off & on, it'd be alot of off&oning. Thanks.

If your break is less than 30 minutes put the amp in standby. If more than about 30 minutes turn it off.
If the amp has no standby switch then turn it off for a break of more than 10 or so minutes. Remember .... amps without standby switches generally utilized tube rectifiers with a slower warm up time so there was little need for a standby switch. If fact ... if you are old enough you will recall that TV sets and car radios (in the USA with a 6V6 if from Ford) had no standby switch.
