Sorry for the ignorance, but if somebody can fill me in on the difference between these 2 tones?
I've played a divided by 13 FTR-37, which is apparently BLackface from what the store owner told me. sounded very very warm, thick and midrange was strong.... Maybe I'm wrong....

Fender's black face tone stack is more of a mid scooped sound combined with a lower treble peak. I've read that Leo was trying to make the amps distort less. You can tell that the tweeds had the most mids, the blondes and browns a little less and then the blackface sound. The Fender reissue blackface amps have that sound so you can easily here it there. The new Fender tweed amp reissues also sound a lot like the old ones so try those out and then you'll know that sound when you hear it.
