Have searched, but have not found Dr z's own recommendations for settings for this amp. Bought one used, no paperwork. This web site is cool, but there are alot of different recommendations, but what does Mike say?
Please direct me to that thread, as it must be a benchmark.

Dig Deeper into the Sr and Jr threads. There is a post from a member quoting Mike on three settings, Tweed, BF scoop and British.
Happy hunting.

Tele62,
Thanks. I have seen the thread where Vol & Master knob adj's to become Vox vs Marshall by dweller.
My seller said that there are too many rec's here, and that I should stick with those made by Dr Z (or company ppl).
I thought there would be an official how-to or "instuctions" or recommendations by the experts.
Formites conflict on HI vs LO input, eg., and I was hoping to find the official "Company Line" on settings.

The MAZ's are so very versatile, their tone stack is VERY different than any thing else. I continue to adjust mine and find new sounds. Do not give up and DO NOT use your eye's to adjust a MAZ, use your ears. All the settings on this forum are cool, just depends on; What you want to hear your type of music size of band home use type of guitar effects etc/infinity I am on my second Jr NR and have had a Sr as well as nearly every Z made. You can pull nearly any Classic "TYPE" of amp tone with a MAZ. Hang with it and ENJOY the journey. Also you state that you thought you'd get something from the "Experts". Many here including DWeller, JChance, BW and MANY others are the experts, they make a living playing guitar, MANY others, perhaps the majority like myself are Semi pro's making a second income playing guitar. Most here know what tone is and use these amps in live situations. DWeller used my Jr on a gig as he had a fly date near me, did he change my settings? YES. By much? NO, did it sound good? YEP, did I learn something? YEP. Did he? I think so as I had a different rec tube and speakers in mine ;D Curt

Listen to brother Curt... he speaks the truth, there are SO many good settings on the Maz Jr and SR that you can literally spend Months exploring all the possible settings ( w/ different volumes, speakers and even tubes) I can say that cause I have explored and still do explore settings... everytime we play. And I really don't think there are any conflicts per say... alot of us just have very different styles and even the ones with similar styles just get there in a different way... different settings and even use different amps... I use the LO input and it's one of the Z's secret weapons for more Clean headroom... but thats not to say others don't use the Hi to great effect... I used the High inputs for along time and for certain things still use them if i wanted a little more hair/ drive... Theres just so much you can do with these amps, you kinda have to find YOUR sound and Nobody can really do that for you but ...well, you... there is a wealth of info here and enough food for thought to get you started... and Thats a GOOD thing... I gave up on my 1st Maz Jr before I really KNEW how to set it... but unlike you now have... I didn't have this forum... but Now I have another Maz Jr and have used the knowledge from this forum and figured out what i missed the first time... settings, Lo input... plus a NOS Tube rectifier made a HUGE difference in volume and got me the clean headroom I never could seem to get out of the 1st Maz JR I owned. that sound I needed, My sound. and BTW I never have and never will consider myself an expert, but Alot of these guy's on here are experts... and Buddy Whittington's settings on his Maz Sr is a great place to start, works on the Jr too, just ... simmer a bit ..... salt n pepper to taste. ;D

To Tele62,
Thanks for the info and the Who's Who to realize the experts.
To Everyone else that is an expert, Thanks for sharing your talent, experience and time on this forum. I just wish I could hear your music too!
The web site managers should arrange a sub-forum as they do in Jam Session ("Trade Secrets" inside the "Tools of the Trade" forum) to direct noob's to, as common Q's keep getting asked, but the answers remain the same "top drawer" recommendations. This thread is a GEM!
With your help I am learning to be my son's "sound engineer." Soon enough he won't need me (sigh), but it is a special thing we have going. His musicality and his rate of learning are to be admired! Seven yrs on piano, 2 on reeds, and 1 on guitar with class in school and private lessons with one of the area's best "players"!
As it was once penned, thanks for the music!
Norman
