I just tried out a MAZ Jr. 2-10 combo. I want this amp, but I expected more low end. I was using a good quality strat-type guitar. Any comments?

Hey Kevin, The Maz is a fine amp, I know I'm loving it more and more as time goes on. Perhaps its because the speaker is getting broken in now, but it seems to be getting more attitude and richer sounding. Anyway, we're you using a NR model and what degree of bottom end were you looking for? I believe the NR is going to give a little more bottom end and the celestion 1x12 speaker will give you more punch. After that, there's a lot that can be gained from eq adjustments. A simple pedal can take you far outside the box too. Bill

Try turning the highs down to help accentuate the lows. Generally amps with two EL84s aren't going to have the bass of more powerful amps.

Kevin,
The Maz I have up for sale right now (in the buy, sell & trade category... topic FS: Maz 18 Jr. Serial # K-8195... Please forgive the shameless plug.) has monster low end. I usually don't turn the bass up past 9 o'clock. It's got two celestion vintage 10s in it... the low end rivals that of my 2x12 mojave cab. If you're shopping used, this one is still up for grabs. Check it out. Regardless, you shouldn't have a hard time getting some bottom out of a Maz...

Man my Maz jr's I have (one NR and one verb) both with Z 2x10's in them to me, has plenty of low end, especially for the 18 watt power ratings they have. In fact I find that most times I have too much low end in them when I play out with others that they dont cut through like I need. I'm used to alot of playing alone, and try to have all the frequency bases covered and for me I like it fatttt. I'm a 97% Strat player but also play a PRS custom 22 and a Bluesbird and a CS 51 Nocaster with the infamous (and I aint kiddin') HUGE Lousville slugger neck. fiddle with the knobs and I'm sure you should be able to find it in there cuz it is!
