It seems that my Maz jr head has developed an interesting noise. It has this random crackling and hiss , but its intermittent. It almost sounds like someone thats turning the tuning dial on a radio. It has also one time had a noise that kinda sounded like something from a CB radio, kind of a cascading whine.
All in all, the sound is OK to bear with. I only notice it when I just turn the amp on. I guess when I'm playing, I dint here it as much.
I know thats pretty vague, but I hope that with someone on this forum has an idea of what I'm talking about.
Thanks

Have you checked for a loose cable jack on your guitar?

Its almost always a tube. Swap out your power tubes with a fresh set and chenge V1 then see if it goes away.

When you are changing your tubes, also make sure that the 4 chassis screws on the bottom of the head are good and snug. This helps prevent any oddball ground noise problems.

try disconnecting your reverb cables at the tank and spraying a little deoxit on them before putting them back. I had a noise , crackling and that was the problem, also it may be your rectifier tube, if you have a JJ rectifier, the pins on the jj's are a few thousanths smaller than normal. you may have to retension the recto tube socket, I said it before and I'll say it again, these Dr Z amps are like British sports cars, you have to keep a screwdriver and a can of deoxit handy at all times. If they could leak oil they probably would.

Try Dougstubes.com he has tubes that have been tested, and good prices. For preamp tubes try the tung sol 12ax7's, for me they work great. As for power tubes the jj tesla el84 tubes will be just fine. If you want early breakup ask Doug for a rating of #4 if you want later breakup get #6. Good luck.
