I am having 2 1x12 cabs built and would like to know if a Maz 18 can handle 16 ohms. I know it would decrease power but would it harm the amp??? I know my Maz 38 will handle the 16 just wondering about the 18.

Does your amp have a 16ohm speaker jack? If it does, you shouldnt have any power loss or other issues.

My maz has speaker outs for 4 & 8 ohms only, and if you are running a 4 ohm load you have to make a wiring harness to combine the loads (2x8 ohms) to equal 4ohms. You cant just plug the two into the back of the amp. I don't know about 16 ohms and a MAZ. If they are wired in parallel the resulting load will be 8 ohms and if they are wired in series it will be 32ohms. If you get 2 16ohm cabinets and you can't run a 16 ohm load you will always have to use 2 cabs, I'd e-mail the doc on this one, I don't think you can run a 16 ohm load on the MAZ but I could be wrong. You will probably be better off getting 2 1x12 8ohm cabs then you can run one or both and be within the limits of most amps.

If you plug two 8 ohm speakers in a Y or parallel jacks you'll get 4 ohms, not 16.

I've never heard of an amp being damaged by running a speaker load higher than rated, 8 instead of 4 or 16 instead of 8, but it will sound different. I would stick with the proper load, no matter which jack you plug into.
