Hi! I love this head, been using it for almost 3 years now, and the honeymoon isn't over yet I'm mostly running it through a Bogner 2x12 shiva cab with V30's, and sometimes trough a vintage 4x12 Marshall with G12-65's. Both combos are nice, but I'd really like to try out some G12M greenbacks or Heritage G12M GB's. Has anyone compared these different cabs with this head? Especially V30's against GB's... I'm looking for a warmer tone really, as the V30 can sometimes be quite trebly with the MAZ. Thanks!

I have a 2x10 combo and I love the sound of it. Have you considered a 2x10 cab with partial-open back?

Great classic rock tones IMO.

My Bogner is a 2x12 partial open back (V30s), and from experience I can tell I'm looking for 12s, thanks for the advice anyway. I haven't tried the Z best cab because it's hard to find here in Paris (France), I had to order my head without trying it first... I guess it's a great match but I'd like to know also if some of you MAZ users tried it with Greenbacks, or to be precise Heritage Greenbacks?

Hi Okay, this is my first post on this list...Hi I know this isn't exactly what you asked but anyway....I use a 1x12 Thiele ported cabinet with an Eminence Red Fang with my Maz Jr Reverb Head and I found that it sounds great, well, warm is a good word to describe it. I have another cabinet, a semi-open one, with a Celestion G12H-something and while it sounds good and punchy it doesn't have the smooth, warm, sound of the Red Fang in the other cabinet. Soren

Yannroman, you made a reference to using "any of these cabs" with the MAZ, but as i read more carefuly i think your only refering to the speakers themselves and your not interested in cab recommendations. If that is a correct assumption, i will say that it's a little tough to make speaker recomendations without knowing a little more about what sound your looking for, or what it is your trying to alter or enhance about the Maz. I play mostly single coils, and the maz can get pretty bright IMHO, so i definately prefer a warmer speaker or lets say a less brite one. I do NOT like the V-30 in many situations, and find it can be a little fatiguing with it's upper mid thing. I would say the other celestions you mentioned are warmer sounding, to me, but with the maz i'm not looking for so much the britt bark, and like perhaps a fuller bottom. Again everyone has a different goal, but that amp is so versatile, that my preference is a more balanced sounding speaker to take advantage of the amps capabilities. I suppose if your really diggin the marshally kinda sound then the gb's may be the ticket. My preference is the Eminence line, you can really tailor your sound with a lot of choices. The Swamp thing is great with the Maz, its a LOUD, high wattage unit tho, and wont break up like the gb until you really push it. The Eminence web site has some pretty good descriptions to go by, and as far as i'm concerned can match celestion speaker for speaker with better quality in most cases. sorry cant be more specific, but good luck!

Duh, ya know what, i just realized that i was thinking you had a 38. Its only in bold on the top of the post! Anyway, just wanted say that with the 18, the swamp thing may be a bit too high powered, if you want some cone crunch. Still would sound great, but stay clean longer. Again, perhaps if you listed some additional requirements, ie. volume, headroom, more or less mids etc., Maybe what styles you play, you may get some better recomendations than ive offered.

Thanks for your input, Telemanic. The goal of my topic was to get maximum information on what cabs MAZ players are using and mostly WHY they prefer them and what it does to their sound. In that sense, your post has been very instructive and detailed. Doesn't really matter what I'm looking for because it can also help other MAZ users finding a good cab to find THEIR sound. That said, I can be more specific on my own search, which is to get more plexi character out of my MAZ18. I agree with you about the greenback, and it's #1 on my replacement speakers list (Heritage G12-M). I know the V30s are louder but I'm tired of their high midrange and want a warmer sound, plus the MAZ18 is loud enough for me. I happen to play all kinds of music as it's my daytime job, but I'm trying to improve MY basic sound rather than copy any particular tone, I just any good pedal depending on the context.
