I really dig the sound of my tube screamer into my maz, but sometimes it seems like its breaking up too much at a low volume. Im really pushing more for that compressed smooth overdrive. Is this more because of my pedal, or the stock speakers in my Zbets cab? Do I need to go to a higher watt speaker?

If you remember a thread a while back about the MAZ 18 making Ghost Notes I think I found the answer to the problem, try reseating the speakers, they arent supposed to be tightened down so the frame touched the baffleboard, they should contact the baffleboard with the gasket around the frame of the speaker. the screws should be only tight enough to snug the gasket tight against the baffleboard. I learned this when I installed beam blockers and posted that I had to cut the ends off them to get them to fit. See beam blocker thread. I have experienced less if none of the extra notes (ghost notes) since I installed my speakers correctly. I was under the impression that all the screws had to be tight. If your speakers are tightened down too much, loosen the screws so the gasket has a chance to re-expand, leave them loose overnight and the next day tighten down the screws till the speaker gasket is pulled up to the baffleboard and give em about an extra quarter turn. Hope this helps

Cone Cry happens at moderate to loud volumes with celestions. you said you're at a low volume so I doubt it's cone cry.
