Just bought my first Z and it sounds great. Has the Dr. Z 10” speaker but has a tad bit much of high end that I can’t quite remove with the tone control. I see a lot of mention of the Celestion Gold 10” so how sound wise do the two different speakers differ. I play done rock, blues, country, and praise music. I’m coming from a Deluxe Reverb and I have to say this Carmen Ghia is fantastic.

Welcome to the forum. If you bought the Ghia new, I would give the Z10 some time to break in before judging it. Some speakers can change quite a bit as they break in and some not at all. I bought my Z 2x10 cab used so I can't tell you whether they changed much once broken in.

You are not the first person to think that for your ears and application....the Ghia may have a bit too much high end. (and I'm sure if Doc adjusted the tone of the Ghia to reflect this, there would be people complaining there's not enough high end.)
The tone control of the Ghia is more like a mid-sweep. (I know it's not really, but you get the idea) And it may not be effective to removing high end to some people's liking.
Use the tone knob on your guitar. Drop it back about 25%..and your problem will be solved. I NEVER touched the tone control of my guitars for decades. But when I had my Ghia, rolling it back was the perfect, simplest and cheapest solution. You could play around with different speakers (Expensive and time consuming)...or you can just roll the guitar's tone knob back a bit and you're done. And if you ever needed that bright tone, you can get it back with a flick of your pinky.
That said...I had a 10" Gold in my Ghia combo...it was awesome. But the gold will not solve your high end problem.

I love Z-10’s. I had a 2x10 Maz jr, and loved the 2 Z-10’s in that amp. I also have a 1x10 Gold in my Ghia and similarly love that sound, though for a different reason. John is correct the Gold won’t solve your bright concern. I also fully concur with John’s idea of using the tone control on the guitar. The Ghia (as other Z’s) really make you realize the benefit of the tone and volume controls on your guitar.
I also have a 2x10 Z-convertible cabinet and I have mixed the two speakers with great success. As Ridgeback mentioned, give that Z-10 a little time to break in, then see what you think.

As John and j4gitr commented using the tone and volume on the guitar works really well with the Ghia as well as other amps. Mine has the stock WGS speaker in it which I like. Actually heading down right now to plug into the Ghia while my wife gives a dirty dog a bath!

Another plus for adjusting the tone on your guitar. I don’t think the Gold will adjust the high end. My Ghia has a G10 Greenback and it’s a very full and balanced sound. The WGS that Doc uses for the 35th Ghia can be found used very reasonably. I will try one eventually.
