Hello, my name is Timo and I am the owner of a Dr. Z EZG 50 Combo. Now I noticed that the amp sounds very treble-heavy. He sounds like a tin can :-). No, it's not that bad, but it doesn't sound nice anymore. It's somehow related to the treble control. If I turn the treble to 9 o'clock, it sounds better again, but not good. If I turn the treble to 12 o'clock it sounds terrible. I had already taken the chassis out, but couldn't see anything unusual. Could it be one of the Silver Micas? Thank you and greetings Timo

How long have you owned the amp? Is it used or new? Is this a new problem or has it been there since you bought the amp? Any videos of the issue?

Hello, I bought the amp used 4 weeks ago and everything was fine. It was built in 2015. I always had the treble, mid & bass at 12 o'clock and everything sounded very good. I can make a video tomorrow. Greetings Timo

Any idea how long the tubes have been in the amp? Doc builds his amps like tanks so most problems are usually tube related.

Hello, unfortunately I don't know how long the tubes have been in the amp.

If you have not already pulled all of the tubes and re-seated them, that would be a good place to start, especially if it was shipped. Next, I would invest in a set of tubes and install them one at a time starting with the preamp tubes. I'm pretty certain that you will find the culprit. Remember, if you change the rectifier or power tubes, you may need to re-bias. Worst case, you have a backup set of tubes on hand. The Doc has an online troubleshooting guide somewhere that you should also take a look at. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
