Excellent sound. Really love a 335 clean with a british voiced amp. It's just a wonderful sounding amp overall to me. Sounding really nice with my prs 535 too. I know the amp has been out forever and probably a lot of people here have one sitting around that they haven't played in a while. To you guys I say maybe dig it out and give a run through again with the g12h30. Try putting the master at 5 (noon), cut at 5, high input, bass/mid/treble to taste, and keep the volume (gain) really low. It kind of fits in an area where you can still be clean with a medium loud drummer and crunch it up a bit by playing harder. Then if it's too loud, back the master down a little. It's a neat sweat spot (to me) that is just kind of right where you can play with a band that's not too loud, but still at a decent volume. When the master is up there a bit, there's fullness to the amp which rounds out (warms up) the highs in the h30, but the power tubes are adding a little compression and another dimension to the gain when playing harder. Kind of like you are putting the amp in a sweet spot where you can be clean or gritty with your hands while still being at a controllable volume. Put another way, you aren't going to get there with a 30 watt amp, or sort of like "this one is just right". At that point, there are a ton of wonderful sounds just between you and the guitar and no pedals. Just throwing it out there, or food for thought. I kind of wish I could go back in time with some of the bands I've been in with this or a Ghia, and I think they would have been magic.
