My downsizing efforts continue...
I have a Z-Lux built Sep 2023 inbound. I've been playing a DRRI and/or Stapleton Princeton but carefully calculate the Lux will do those tones and more. The icing is it will fit in a road case I have that was originally built for a Wreck combo sized 1x12...can't beat that!
The plan is to pair the it with a custom 18w "Marshall'esq" 1x12 combo and run them together...in larger venues. The Lux will be solo for most of the smaller gigs and will debut this Fri/Sat at the infamous Stockyard Saloon (aka "Yard Bar") during the National Western Stockshow. No stage, band plays in the corner and the dance floor gets crazy especially on a weekend. Should be a good time.
Hold my beer...it's good to be part of the Lux Club!

Congrats on that Z-Lux. I'm sure you'll put it to very good use!

Nice Lux! My only complaint about mine is that the combo and head/1x12 cabinet never “hooked up” and had any offspring. They do have the privacy of the downstairs music area, who knows, maybe someday…🤷♂️

Congrats on the NAD. I'm currently in downsize mode but I have to admit that if a good deal on a MKII Z-Lux head came up, Id be sorely tempted.

Hmmm...I always have at least a couple of amps in the office downstairs...so you're sayin' there's a chance?

The main driver behind getting the combo was the pre-existing road case! I'll admit the older I get the less attractive hauling a 2x12 in a case up stairs is...even with two people!

That makes sense. I've been a home only player for many years now so portability isn't an issue for me, I just prefer heads as I switch between cabs regularly and actually prefer the look of a head\cab over most combos. Enjoy your new amp.

Night one in the can. I had to loan my in-ear pack to the drummer as the lead singer didn't have an antenna on his transmitter! Ugh...my ears are still ringing!
Tones all night long...I'm anxious to get back into it tonight. Crazy crowd is always good...until they start falling drunk into your mic stand, pedal board and you! If it gets any worse tonight it'll be time for a "Keef!"

Two nights of tone-filled tunes! The photo below shows how how I ran it both nights. In spite of bringing the Heritage H-535 I only played the Nocaster though it didn't fail to deliver. Small bar, smaller dance floor right up against the band. To many opportunities of a semi-hollow guitar being smashed. I did use the Nocaster to "push" folks back from my pedal board!
I still need to mount the switches on my pedal board. In spite of the honeymoon phase that happens with any new gear the Z-Lux is a fantastic combination of tone, weight and compactness that checks all the boxes. This is going to be a fun ride!

How did you dig the Z12 Speaker? I love that speaker, it’s so good.

I haven't tried anything else but will say it sounds great as-is. Have you tried others?

The Lux and Z22 were designed for each other. An unbeatable combination. I plugged my head into an Alessandro GA -SC64 loaded Z 1x12 and liked the Z12 better, fuller more highs. I like the Alessandro a lot with other amps, but Z12 is just tits in the Lux.

I've got a Z Wreck combo sized 1x12 I may use for experimentation. The only speaker I'm really curious about is the Thru-Tone Nash J (https://www.facebook.com/thrutonefx).

Were you on on half- or full-power for the gig? Just curious.

Black with Wreck cloth, black piping and logo. I only have about 30 minutes on it so far and that was mostly dialing in the knobs for the guitar and cab that were currently in the playing rotation. New toys are fun.
