I know it sounds odd, but there's a reason.
So I'm pretty big on getting my wife great Christmas surprise presents... She got back into writing, I got her a vintage typewriter. There was a year a conversation came up about how her dad didn't get her a go-kart when she was a kid because she was a girl, so I got her one... It's just one of those things I like to do.
Well, this year she decided she wasn't going to be outdone. I got a Maz 18 a while back... had wanted one for years. Extremely happy with it, I play it every day. I wanted a Zbest cab also, but was never in a position I felt I could do it.. I even swapped some speakers in an old 2x12 cab I had to have the v30/G12H30 combo to make my own Zbest-ish cab. My wife does not know anything (technical) about any of my hobbies... but somehow she asked enough people or poked around enough to know I wanted a zbest cab, and I got gobsmacked Christmas morning. Only issue is, she ordered a Zbest CAZ, and it came with the Z situated for sitting on the longer side (and technically a differnt speaker pairing). That said, I love the sound of it, and am a bit sentimentally attached to what she gave me... so I don't really want to try and send it back to sweetwater. I do really wish I could re-position the Z so it's upright while it's sitting vertically, though. Is that doable? Could you use a heat gun on it or something?
Either way, I'm not sending it back... no way in hell. I have the best wife ever.
Sorry for the long read, and thanks for the help.

Just give Don a call at Dr Z’s shop. He would know how to re-orient it.

The old Z’s are just stuck on, but the new Z’s have tabs on the back with retainers. They but they changed ithem so we won’t loose them as easy. You would have to remove the grill and remove the retainer, rotate and reassemble. Not exactly a 5 minute project.
I would just live with it.

If it's a new one, it sounds like a 1-2 hour job. If it really bugs you, it might be worth the effort to reorient. If it's the older one put on with adhesive, you might not be able to remove or hide the old adhesive if you turn it around. I'd be more likely to change the new one. Don may know how to remove the old adhesive. Seeing the old adhesive on the cloth would bug me a lot more than the Z being the "wrong" orientation.

It shows it both ways on the Z site. And Sweetwater. I would want to play it in the horizontal position for maximum low end. That said, there has to be a simple way to reorient it.

My post above is the only way. It’s not impossible, it just takes a bit of time to take the cabinet apart, but IMHO I’d learn to live with it.

I'm probably gonna take a look and see how crazy the job is. I'm assuming your opinion is based on knowledge of the difficulty of the job, so I won't be so presumptuous as to insist I'll actually go through with it... but I'm willing to commit to discovering how big of a PITA it might be.. I'll try to update folks with what I find.

After reviewing the CAZ Cab it appears that the Z is slighter off center as well. IF that it truly the case you are going to have to move it and you will see the two holes that the tabs will leave. Personally if that is the case I would leave it OR return the cab if that is possible.

So I pulled it all apart today... 14 screws to get the back off, then 6 screws hold on the grill.
Turns out on this cab, the Z is actually glued on. There were no other supports, so I guess they went back to the old way? I tested rubbing alcohol on the mesh and it seemed like that was a safe option, so I tried to soak the fabric behind the Z and see if that would do it.. No dice. Also tried heating it up to see if that would soften the glue... also no dice. I didn't really want to try anything more agressive than that, so I just put it back together.
That said, getting the grill off was actually very simple. I wonder if they would just sell me a new grill with the logo in the other location? It would be a ridiculously simple swap...
I think I'm just going to shoot them an email and see what they say.
Anyway, just wanted to report back with my findings in case someone else came looking to solve a similar issue. Thanks for the help! Rock on..
