Hi All,
I just received my Z28 MKII combo today from Sweetwater. Was super excited only to be massively disappointed. I turned the standby on and then the amp on - waiting 4 minutes. I see the light is on, and I see the tubes are glowing. I then tried to turn both channel volume and master volume to noon, nothing. I know my guitar cable works as I was just playing but even tried to swap guitar cables. I then also tried (with the amp back off) unplugging the combo speaker and instead plugging in my 8ohm 2x12 cabinet, still no volume. Not even a little. This is my first tube amp and I'm not sure what else to try or do. Lastly, I tried both standby in the on position and in the standby position in case it was flipped somehow with no success.

Sounds like V1 Preamp tube might be bad.

As I just got this from Sweetwater, would you recommend I call them in the morning and ask for a set of tubes? I think they only got a few and I was one of the lucky ones that got one but they are backordered according to their site again.

Also, if the fuse was bad I assume the indicator would be that there would be no power light turn on or could it also be the fuse?

To not miss the obvious, guitar volume is turned up? It works with another amp? You're not going through a pedal board? If none of those, I agree, likely a tube. You won't need a whole set. One 12AX7 is likely all you'll need. I would call sweetwater in the morning. They may be able to help you troubleshoot. If they can't help, get in touch with Dr Z repairs. Likely an easy fix and not a problem with the amp. If you can check the fuse with a meter, it's worth doing. Don't go by looking.

Lol I feel like an idiot, but I just fixed it!. I took some pictures of the inside of the tubes with my phone and the tube closest to the side with the power button I had noticed the 5 prongs kind of sticking out further. This is my first tube amp so I wasn't sure so I thought what's the worst that can happen and tried to press it down much harder. It seemed to seat in better and I don't see the prongs anymore. And guess what... I have SOUND!!! Now to go back to testing it -- I just wanted to quickly post and say i'm fixed!

Glad it was something simple. The three things I always do on a shipped tube amp (new or used) before I turn it on:
Use Deoxit on all connections. Probably not necessary on a new Z=28 MKII as there is little chance that it sat around for a while. Reseat all the tubes and connectors (eg reverb tank cables) tighten all screws, especially the ones that mount the chassis to the cab.
Then it's time for the smoke test.
