Hi all. Long time Z player, first time posting. Own an AC30 and MAZ 18 NR, play Les Pauls. Never really been a big American tone fan but spent a lot of time listening to old Fleetwood Mac recently. I dig the tones Kirwan and Green got from their Showmans. I have seen a number of Youtube vids with a Deluxe Reverb dialed back and cranked with a Les Paul. That's a great tone, quite open and sweet but with a detailed midrange. Considered handwired DR from Fender but fear that Fender flabby bottom. And having worked at Sweetwater, I've seen my fair share of Fender issues. I would much rather have a Z. Thinking about Z-Lux or Z-Plus. I know all Z amps do a lot but would either do that one thing a DR does?

I don’t own a Zplus but I do own a ZLux and I think it would fit the bill for you. My main guitar is a Les Paul and the Lux is pretty much my main amp (have a couple other Z’s). It’s a great pairing.

Jetta tones are unique, weighty, and impressive. My Jetta combo w/PPIM & 7591s , is now my go to amp…..muscular, clarity, and authority……..much like my old Ampeg V4….

I have the Z-Plus with the Z-12 speaker and a Ghia with a Weber AlNiCo Blue Dog. The Z-Plus is definitely American voiced with that speaker. It has a tighter bottom end than you would expect from a single ended amp with 6V6s. The Ghia is not really American voiced with EL 84s. It’s awesome but not like a DR. The Z-Lux will definitely be a louder amp if that’s what you need. It has 4 6V6. Z-Lux would be closer to the DR than a Z-Plus, but the Z-Plus has a post phase inverter master volume that is excellent for dialing in volume. The Z-Plus can definitely sound like a Princeton reverb if that is want you’re after.

Thanks. Good to know. Dig that Princeton sound too.

The Z-Lux is an incredible amp and was my main gigging amp when I was in a recent rock band.

Z-Lux for that DR thing? Yes. Without a doubt. Plus, you get a master volume, boost, and half/full power switch. It is the complete package.
Welcome to the Forum.

My Z-Lux has replaced my BFDR style amp and it has become my only amp for gigging over the last few months.
