my jr is a 210 model. has 2 16 ohm z 10"s for load of 8 ohms. the back of the amp only has a single 8 ohm tap. if i add an external 8 ohm cab with the internal spkers, i believe that would be a 4 ohm load, but will that hurt the tranny? and what is the best way to hook it up due to the single tap? thanks.

If you want to use the internal speakers in combination with an extension cab, the total load would have to be 8ohms to be safe for long term use. So the best way would be to replace the internal speakers so that they have a total load of 16 ohm and get an extension cab that is wired for a 16ohm load as well. Then you would need a Y-cable connector wired in parallel so that you could hook up both sets of speakers to the amp for a total 8 ohm load. Here's a link to a high quality Y-Cable for this type of setup: procablesnsound.com/browse_item_details.asp/Item_ID/623649I used this cable when I had a Maz Jr. 1x12 and a 1x12 cab (two 8ohm speakers in parallel into the 4ohm output on the back of the Maz). Hope this helps! -Greg I just realized that with 2-10's at 16 ohms, you would need to replace them with 8 ohm speakers and have them wired in series to create a 16 ohm load, I think that's how it works.

No problem, let us know what you end up doing. It may just be easier to experiment with different 10" speakers to get the sound you're after. The two speaker setup already gives you a better sonic spread and sound dispersion than say a 1x12, which can sound pretty boxy and isolated (the exact reason I opted for a 1x12 extension cab when I had my Maz Jr. 1x12 combo). If I'm not mistaken the stock Z-10's are rated at 70watts a piece and are basically modified Eminence speakers that the Doc developed with the much help and input from Ted Weber. If you're not totally happy with them it might be a good idea to call Ted Weber and tell him what you're after as far as power handling, brakeup characteristics and overall frequency response. He should basically be able to build you a set of speakers, matched or mismatched, ceramic or AlNiCo, to acheive what you're after.
Good Luck!
