Hey all,
After a buncha years of fun and excitement it is time for a re-tube of my Z-28 head.
I’m looking at The Tube Store replacement package and wondering if anyone else has gone that route?
Otherwise, any suggestions regarding specific tubes and or stores much appreciated.
Best regards and cheers always
Joel

I use JJ6v6’s and NOS JAN 5751’s (used to be easy to get and cheap), multiple different EF86, but the ones that DRZ uses sound great. Just use something readily available so you have a consistent sound.

I also use JJ6v6’s and NOS JAN 5751’s. I use a winged C EF86 and a Sovtek 5AR4.

Change your power tubes. Try the new ones. If it sounds better, keep them in. If not, use them as spares. Leave the preamp tubes and rectifier alone if you like the way the amp sounds now. If you are buying them, use them as spares. A spare rectifier, EF-86 and 12AX7 or 5751 should do. Preamp tubes last for years and years. Changing them when there is no need, may lead to a different sounding amp. That's why hardcore pros do tube mapping, so when they have to change them, the amp sounds and responds the same. Actually, pretty much the same.

Best regards and cheers always Joel
