Hi Everyone,
First post here and I'm totally new to Dr Z amps.
I'm wanting to get my first proper amp, and I'm tossing up between a VOX AC30H or a Dr Z MAZ 18 NR, I know its no comparison, but also I'm in Germany and its hard to find a MAZ18, I'm also hoping to find a second hand one to save some cash.
Should I wait for a Maz to show up, I'm really wanting that VOX rock/punk/no wave sound of the 80s and 90's... Is the MAZ a good choice for that?
I also use a lot of pedals (time/modulation fx), and I'm particularly interested in using the fx loop.
Thanks Michael

Hi Michael, and welcome to the forum, lots of great people and useful info here. I'm also based in Europe (Southern Spain), and I got my FIRST Z amp, a Maz 18 R second-hand quite a few years ago; if you're patient enough, the chance will come. There's no better amp than a Maz (and now I'm in my fourth Z) for any sound you'd like to get. It's the Swiss Army knife of amps. Check Ebay and Reverb periodically and one will show up. Good luck with your tone quest!

I'd hold out for the Maz, if you can? Try for a Mk.II as the FX loop is better.
You'll find nice (and nasty) AC30 type tones in it, as well as some Marshall and even Fender tones.

I have an ac15 and a maz jr.
Maz is much more flexible…you can get fender, Marshall, vox type of tones out of it. Especially if you use the right speaker…a celestion blue.
But it does not nail the vox tone 100%. If you want vox you need a vox. But I prefer the maz to an actual vox especially if I only had one amp…I would for sure go with the maz.
