First post so forgive me if I do something wrong.
I have had my Z Wreck Jr. For about a year or so. I had the EL84 tubes get damaged when it was shipped to me and the seller sent me 2 JJ EL84 tubes that I have been using.
1. Would there be a big difference in the sound of the amp if I installed some of the NOS tubes that originally came with the amp?
2. Could it affect the headroom in a good way for me? (More clean on the volume before it breaks up.)
3. I have found this amp to be a bit Ear piercing on the treble side so I usually have the treble around 9-10 o’clock and the cut around 11-12 o’clock. (Currently using a PRS 594/ tele with lollars. Also using a Ego mini comp with the treble switch off) Is this normal for me to hear this amp like this? I’ve played through some ac15/ac30 amps and it wasn’t as trebly to me.

Yes. First, going to old stock tubes will give you much longer life and typically sound better. Second, the 6n14’s will sound more like Doc and Ken likely intended. Ken was a huge fan of these.

It would also help to note what speaker you are using with the amp.

I third the recommendation that you get a pair of 6П14П power tubes for this amp. When the originals in my Z Wreck Jr became noisy I contacted perryr to order another set. I don't like messing with the recipe on my Dr. Z amps.
