Hey gang. I asked the same question on the ghia page. Curious about the wreck/wreck jr bottom end. Would you describe it as tight? saggy? Boomy? punchy? Thanks in advance

Wreck is pretty full sounding and depends on volume and speed/confort setting. Junior is kinda loose at volume.

I found the Avatar A50 is nearly identical to a Celestion Gold with perhaps slightly more low end, but it's definitely tighter sounding down there. It's a great speaker!

I’ve got the bass turned completely down on my zwreckjr, but I haven’t pulled this amp into a band mix.

I’m primarily a (Gibson historically, but PRS of late) humbucker guy, but I’ve played though this amp extensively with a couple of tele’s as well. I don’t ever change amp settings when I swap guitars.

For me, the bottom end on my ZWreck is tight, but full. I do roll off the bass some. I play more with single coil Rics and Fenders more than my humbucker guitars. I don’t often adjust tone controls or adjust very little when switching to HBs.
I primarily play my Zwreck through a 2x12 Alnico Blue loaded Avatar and often use attenuation.

Here's my take on the Z-Wreck low end... The amount and character of it.
It's prefect where it's at, not too much and not too little. I actually ran mine about 12:00-2:00. It didn't add much more lows, but filled out a little more. The more bass you have dialed in, the looser it'll get when you crank it. I did try a Celestion Blue in mine.... This added more low end, but scooped out the mids a little more than I wanted. The Greenback is great for this amp. I'm sure if you wanted more lows, a different speaker would provide it?
I don't find it a really tight bass. At lower volumes, it's tight....But I find it gets loose the more you turn it up, pretty quickly compared to other amps. Which is part of the great preamp design of this amp. It kind of sounds like a GREAT amp about to explode, in a good way, when you turn it up into overdrive territory.

I’m wanting to try a wreck jr or a ghia. For no other reason than I have a problem lol.

My "problem" is that I want to experience all of the organic electric guitar sounds that I can and Dr. Z amps seem to be the ultimate source for that.

The Ghia has a stronger mid-range with some rolled off top end. You can tame (or un-leaseh) the top end of the Wreck with the Treble and cut, but the Ghia only has a tone knob. Both GREAT amps, just choose your poison.
