I just snagged a Therapy off Facebook Marketplace.
I have been thru several Maz 18's and 38's, a Z Wreck Jr head, a Galaxy, a Remedy, Carmen Ghia 1x10, 2x10, 1x12 combos and head, but this Therapy is the one. I wish I still had the Z Wreck Jr, and wish I had a MKII Maz 18 but I am very happy with the Therapy.
I can get gorgeous cleans as well as great overdrive tones.
Yes it is 30 watts but a very manageable 30 watts.
This one is THE keeper!

Neat that you've been through all those models and keep buying Z's. That really says a lot. I have most of those mentioned, but not that one. Makes me wonder...

Played for a long time today my Therapy. haven't gigged it for a couple months because I've been playing my Z28 MK I, but I think the Therapy will get some gig time the next couple months.

The Therapy was my second Z amp, and every time I plug into it I wonder why I unplugged. It really sounds great into a Z 1x12 cab open back, loaded with an Alnico Creamback. Killer tweed tone.

Congratulations. The Therapy is a fine amp and really flexible with the cathode biasing and the ability to swap power tubes. I've never tried anything but 6L6's and 5881's in mine but have always been curious about trying 6V6's. Enjoy.

Oh yeah I like them all I just kept buying and selling. GC has a great 45 day return policy ..... I opened it up and the caps and other parts are really top shelf. The main power transformer and output transformer are huge! The 6L6's and the PPIMV drew me to it. I am just blown away by the tone. Strats, PRS's, Gibsons all sold great through it. As I stand here today, I won't ever part with it. LOVE IT!!

I play it through a Z 1x12 cab that has the removable back panels. I took one of the three panels off. I have a WGS Reaper HP in it. Sounds great. I also have a Fargen open back 1x12 with a 75 watt Creamback in it .... sounds awesome through that also! Play that puppy ..... great amp. Mike should bring it back into production!

You won’t find mine in the BST section. Mostly through a 1x12 Z-cab center panel out with a WGS Blackhawk.

Folks around here are probably getting tired of me saying this but... It's the Swiss army knife of big bottle amps.
If you're power tube swapping, a try of some 6CA7s will get you nicely between the 6L6 and EL34 tone and feel. Captures the 70s US Marshall sound from when they used them.

I am playing my Therapy through an Alnico Cream mounted in a Mojotone convertible cabinet. I am using it with the back middle panel off, so open back. I am really curious what this amp would sound like through a 4x10. Would it simulate a Tweed Bassman? I know that ‘59 Bassman speakers are 2 ohm, and the Therapy options are 4, 8, and 16. I’m not sure how 4x10’s would sound at the higher impedance. Has anyone tried this? How did it work?

I’m curious how the Therapy would sound through the Z Backlinw 4x10. I don’t know enough about amp circuits to know the difference between a Tweed Twin/Therapy and a Bassman. I’m just curious how he Therapy would sound through 4 10’s. Or 4 12’s for that matter.

Someone on here regularly had or still has a Therapy that ran it with a 4x10 loaded with all Golds. I remember the comments about that rig being very positive, maybe he'll chime in if he sees this post... Welcome and enjoy your Therapy, still loving mine after all these years!

I have 34s in mine now and love them. In this amp, all of the big bottles sound great, which is rare as generally an amp excels with one type and tolerates the rest (if it can manage to accommodate multiple types).

Jumping on this thread too, as I picked one up off Reverb looking for a 6L6 amp that is closer to Fender style tones.
I originally found the amp to be really fizzy on the overdrive, and while much of it was resolved when I broke in the vintage 30 speaker, it still wasn't quite as rich and smooth as I had hoped.
I realized what was the likely culprit once I opened the amp. Except for what was likely the original JJ 6L6s, I couldn't recognize any of the other tube manufacturers, and suspect someone may have kept the originals for themselves.
Reading through this forum and the Dr's comment around how he loves the amp's design, I decided to retube it and give it a fair chance. Replaced the 12ax7s with Genelex Gold's, the 6L6s with preferred series 6L6WGCs from thetubestore and a new JJ GZ34 I had laying around.
All I can say is O.M.G. The cleans are big, rich, full and have lots of harmonics. The overdrive is smooth, yet full with lots of clarity. Making the adjustments to the Mid control shapes the sound to give even a bit of a different flavour.
With the changes, I can safely say this amp is going nowhere and I can see why everyone here likes it so much. Hope that we get to see an updated design in the future.

This is good to k ow about the tube swap. Mine look like original tubes and judging by how the back panel was so hard to get off, I am quite sure of it now.

Several folks here have tried different tubes, especially output. I tried JJ 6V6, but prefer the standard JJ 6L6. I did spring for a Celestion Alnico Cream a couple weeks ago and have about 20 loud hours on it. Playing clean or with a dirt pedal it sounds fuller with more lower mids than any of my V30s or an Alnico Gold. Warm but clear.

I also really like the KT77’s in the therapy. Big, ballsy cleans.

I jammed with a bunch of rockers this afternoon. I brought my Therapy and my 50 watt Marshall. I played the Therapy first.
Now at times I had the Therapy wide open. And, it was glorious. Everyone loved the tone.
So this got me thinking. I was playing with the idea with buying a Z Wreck Jr head. Based on what I heard today, perhaps the Z Wreck with it's 30 watts is a better choice.
What has anyone else's experiences been?

I haven't owned a Z Wreck in any form, but the 'Wreck being 30 Watts is very close in power to the Therapy's 35 Watts. If the everyone loved the Therapy, why get the Z Wreck?
Even the 'Wreck Jr is going to be pretty loud, if it is on par with the rest of Z's lower power amps. I'm a biased Therapy devotee, but I'd stay with the Therapy.

My new thing is-Master full on,treat it as a one volume amp-it sounds GREAT everywhere on the dial, and won't take your head off until 2 oclock.Master clockwise to the max and volume on noon is my favorite rhythm tone setting.

What output tubes are in yours? I tried the master all the way up and with the volume on 10:00 it was insanely loud. It did sound insanely good though.

I have had mine running 6V6's for a few years-I know it's not exactly half power, but it lets me crank power tubes, get sag,etc without ticking off the neighborhood.
