I've long settled on my Maz 38 "studio deluxe" as my desert island forever amp. I've tried a few other things thinking it would be nice to have some other flavors around, but ultimately realize that I can get the sounds I like from those amps or something I like better from the Maz. What I'm thinking about is probably a couple year project. I'm thinking the studio will be handy to have out and about, but I would like to get an addition Maz 38 set up. One option would be to get a head and have some flexibility with a cab underneath. The other benefit of this set up would be I could run that cab with the studio if I wanted.
What I would like to know is if anyone has put their Maz through a 410 and what they thought compared to a straight 112 or 212. I know it sounds great in the 112 combo and there are plenty of praise for 212, especially the Z Best. Just wondering what a 410 might bring to the party. (I've never played a 410. I did have a Ghia 210 combo, it is by far my favorite Ghia tone.)

Don't forget about the 310! Doc had several 310 combos he released a while back. There was the Bluesman, the SuperZ, and the Jazz. They all sounded great!

I know, but not only do I love the Maz, but I really like the reverb. It did occur to me that if I'm doing this a longer range project and it will be the rig that mostly lives at the house I could go NR on the amp and get one of the reverb units. Jaguarguy (Mike) , I know the Super Z, but what are the other 310's combo's you mention? Are they configurations of other Z amps or more custom mock ups? Wait, I found a post that looks like the Bluesman is a 310 combo of a Maz 38, do you have one???

When I still had my Maz18, 2x10 combo, I loved that combo and the sound of the doc’s 10’s. I bought a 2x10 convertible cab to tack on more goodness for bigger gigs. I liked that it added more, but didn’t note that it gave me a radical change in sound etc That didn’t stop me however from wanting to obtain a 4x10 cab out of curiosity. But I retired, moved across country and for all intents and purposes have abandoned band life in favor of an acoustic duo with my wife. I did also plug my Maz18 into my Z-Best cab, sans the 2x10’s in the combo. That was incredible. Now that the Z-Best is lighter, I would consider that for a different flavor. Big rich, and bold. Not sure this is all that helpful, so I apologize for rambling.

In part because I have a couple 12" speakers and I always enjoy swapping things around (only to realize that whatever Doc put in there to start is the better option anyway). I also had a 210 combo for a Ghia and loved that.

I'm a 12" speaker kinda guy. I've had Super Reverbs, a Vibrolux copy and Chap copy. Something about the sound of a good 12" speaker, in the way they react and the harmonic content I prefer over 10's. I'd go 2x12.
