So how loud does this amp have to be to get edgy? Seems like most Demo's are close to half way up and I assume thats pretty loud!

Depends on the guitar you're using. But for my Tele's it's about 10-11 o'clock on half power. It's not quiet at that volume. But I can gig with it no problem.

The Dr.’s amps are gigging tools and as such are generally pretty loud when giving the goods. Now, they do sound good at low volume, but they are designed to be turned up. Even the Mini Z and MAZ 8 are getting loud when turned up! ME

I'm pretty sure you're going to want a Brake Lite or Air Brake to really get into its sweet spot. Or... you could just be Brad Paisley, because he gets to play super loud. But for the rest of us, at least a click or two on the attenuator might be warranted.

Same for me, although I'm not currently gigging. Fwiw, my T-style is '52 blackguard with Lollar pickups that are vintage sounding and not high output.
I like using pedals to get more shades, so I have been using the lo input. You'll get more breakup using the hi input. It will, of course be louder.
The amp cleans up really nicely with the guitar volume.

One Tele is low output and one is higher. I run my Wreck Jr 9-10:30 with the Master wide open. Fairly loud on stage, but reasonable with a drummer for sure. Sometimes I want a bit more headroom, but not Big Wreck headroom! The DB4 intrigues me for sure with the 1/2 power option and thick tone.
