I don't think anyone's mentioned this flick. Just saw it. Lots of flash-ish backs to the 80's movies. Mostly for reference and storyline, which is completely forgivable.
It's what you'd expect....but still well done for what it is. And just like when the 80's version came out, the flight cinematography is outstanding. Worth the price of admission.

I liked it - it did what I was expecting. Hats off to the Navy for heavily participating again. I’m not a Tom Cruise fan, but overall the movie was worth the ticket price.

Great movie! Just a simple movie for a simple guy that likes guitars and guns. They don't make good movies like that anymore. Everything now has to have a social political agenda. 🙄 yawn......

I liked it so much that when friends wanted to see it, I bought it and had them over to my place for a screening. It's well done, the back story is great.

Pretty much the same movie as the first. A different battle, different era / ages, and better done, but same movie.

One point I noticed: The 'villain' is a nameless/faceless enemy. No country mentioned. Not even what part of the world.

The original was the reason i went with a Beta HiFi deck instead of a VHS back in 1985. The audio was unreal cranked up through the stereo for the flying scenes. That's all i have to add. i probably won't watch the new one.

I liked it. Admittedly I like the character portrayed by Tom Cruise. The guy that turns down promotion after promotion and just keeps doing what he wants to do and is good at it. Seems familiar to me . Toss in enjoying sportbikes and cool cars.... I'm a similar man child lol. So I thought it was a fun watch. One cool tidbit, the P51 mustang Pete Mitchell flies in the end is actually Tom Cruise's personal plane and he flew it in the movie himself.

The P-51 Mustang is one of the iconic airplanes that I would have loved to have flown. were I a pilot of anything more than radio control. It's got a functional beauty about it that I've always been drawn to, just gorgeous. That's cool that Cruise has a P-51. The man's got taste!

I have NEVER watched a movie with Tommy Cruise in it. NO amount of money could ever make me do that!

Just watched it. I was never really a fan of the first TG movie, and my favorite TC movies are not the ones that have the usual popularity. I thought this TG was a big improvement over the first one. The characters had more substance and the plot was better. Jennifer C has aged really well. Never forget the first time I saw her in The Rocketeer. Marginal movie but she was (and is) beautiful.
Edited to add that the P-51 is the Jaguar XKE of the fighter plane world. A classic, beautiful design.
