I am a complete newbie in this forum. I have purchased a used Maz 18. The amp hums a lot so i decided to send it to my local serviceman. He said it would be helpful to have the schematics during the troubleshooting. The amp makes least hum with the master volume at noon. More or less master volume increases the hum. I found it a bit annoying even if i think the amp might be a kind of useable in a noisy live setting with master volume around noon and volume around 9.
He has spent a lot of time on the amp, but could not get rid of the noise. Tips and schematics are more than welcome! Serial nr K-8244

The best tip I can give you for your 22 year old MAZ 18, is to send it in and have the MKII update done on it . It will preform as a new MAZ 18 and I think you would enjoy it. I'm sure your tech is good, but the MAZ isn't any more complex then say a Blackface Fender and if he has spend a good deal of time with it with no success maybe its time to try an alternative which is the Original Manufacture .

Welcome to the forum!
I wholeheartedly recommend what Doc is suggesting. I've returned amps to the factory for tune-ups and/or upgrades and ALWAYS have been very pleased with the results. Send an email to the factory to get a RA, then remove the chassis and pack it up in a good box (Home Depot Heavy Duty are good).
Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the replies! I'm quite sure would have enjoyed a MKII. Im located in Norway and shipping to the factory and back would probably cost too much for my budget right now. At least I need to calculate the shipping cost if someone can estimate the shipping weight for the chassis
Is it possible to estimate how much the upgrade would cost?
Im already a happy owner of a Maz38 with brakelite.

Much better!
Even without the schematic, he located the hum. It could be traced back to the transformer. He changed the filter cap, and added one extra, not quite sure where it was placed.
He also replaced some of the signal wires with shielded wires. He has been told by colleagues which of the MKII mods that could be added easily! And he did them!
The reverb tank was also taken out before he started to work, so he found an aftermarket tank that worked fine.
The result was a much more quiet amp. But I still notice that it is important where the guitar pickups are facing. Least hum is picked up when i sit over 1 metre away from the amp, and even more when the pickups see the amps front at an angle of 45 degrees! Is this normal? With the amp faced parallell to my guitar or at 90 degrees the hum is still really annoying!

Your guitar is an antenna, especially if it has single-coil pickups. That noise you are picking up is not from the amp unless your guitar is VERY close to the power transformer.

I can hear the coffee machine upstairs though my strats/amps. Then there’s the orientational thing where if I face a certain direction I can eliminate most of the noise, turn around and there it is. Granted, I live in a very densely populated area with lots of signal generators.
