I don't know about the rest of you, but I've gotten lazy with listening to streaming audio, or CD's, MP3's etc. and I've forgotten the magic of vinyl.
This afternoon I got out my Mobile Fidelity Half Speed Mastered LP of Elvis Costello's first album, "My Aim Is True". It sounds so good, the drums and bass are so present and well imaged. I'd forgotten how good a well recorded album sounds.
I'm using a Pioneer PL-71 turntable with a Shure M97x cartridge. It's a beautiful manual turntable from the early '70s, direct drive on a nice walnut plenum. I had one back in the day and my son bought me this about 15 years ago for my birthday.
Just thought I'd toss this out there, vinyl is so good. I'm going to get back into my record collection and enjoy the album covers again.
EDIT: I just put on Steely Dan's "Gaucho". Whoa... and The Pretenders "Middle of the Road" and "Back on the Chain Gang". Such great stuff.

Elvis Costello what a great way back into the vinyl. I want to pick up a turntable as my B&O has seen far better days. I still have a batch of great lp’s still in boxes from our move 4 years ago. Maybe soon I’ll rediscover the magical experience of that media.

You should use an album cover to roll up a fatty while listening to Animals by Pink Floyd

My 18 year old son took an interest in music a few years back. Earlier this year he expressed an interest in vinyl. So, I gave him a bunch of my old hi-end stereo gear I had in my closet and bought him a decent turntable/preamp for his birthday in May. He loves buying/listening to vinyl. I think we are up to 40-50 album titles bought already.

Vinyl lovers here, too. We (my wife and me) rediscovered the sound quality and listening experience of good vinyl records about ten years ago. We have replaced our favorite CDs with vinyl versions wherever possible. We use an old Thorens turntable which needed a bit of restoration - simple, reliable, does a great job.

Me too. Just when I'd finally assembled the audio system of my dreams my ears decided it was time to roll off around 7kHz. Gettin' old sucks.

I'm not going to go as far as to say vinyl is inherently better than well-mastered CDs but you are definitely more involved with the listening experience and I think that can make it better.
